Before Dr. Bai Koun came to China, there were many other touching stories.
Originally a famous Canadian thoracic surgeon, Bai Qiu'en came to China at the beginning of 1938, and his arrival not only brought China a large number of medicines, microscopes, x-ray scopes and a set of surgical instruments. In addition to that, Bai Qiu'en also brought China superior medical technology and amazing organizational skills.
After arriving in China, Bai Qiu'en soon arrived at the rear hospital of the Jinchahi Border Region, where in the first week he examined as many as 520 sick and wounded, most of whom had been wounded in the Pingxingguan Battle. During the second week, Bai began operating on Shangyuanmen. In the time after this, Bai Qiu'en worked continuously for four weeks, which also restored 147 wounded and sick men to health. It can be said that wherever there are wounded people, there is Bai Qun.
During one battle, Bai Kouen once worked continuously for as long as 69 hours, during which time he operated on 115 wounded. Bai Qun's operating table could be in the front line or in the rear, even though the battle was hot, Dr. Bai Qun was still operating on the wounded. At that time, people were very worried about Bai Qun's safety and advised him to take refuge in the rear, but Bai Qun said this: "Far away from the firing line, the time for the wounded to arrive will be prolonged, and the mortality rate will increase. Soldiers are not afraid of danger in the line of fire, what danger are we afraid of?"
In order to save the lives of the wounded, Bai Kouen spilled his own blood on the ground of China, of course, but he claimed that he was a universal blood transfusionist, which means that he is type O blood. It is worth mentioning that Bai Qiu'en also took out the pure cow's milk from Holland that he had brought with him, and personally went to the kitchen to boil milk and bake slices of steamed buns, and served them to the seriously wounded. Watching the wounded eat, Dr. Bai Koun also felt very satisfied. Dr. Bai Koun is a skilled field surgeon, in addition to doing surgical treatment, he personally typed, drew diagrams, wrote teaching materials, and gave lessons to the medical staff.
All in all, Dr. Baek Koo Un was a man to be respected.
