Importation of coal, iron and iron ore from North Korea is prohibited, except in the following two cases: First, transactions that are determined to be solely for livelihood purposes and not related to the DPRK's nuclear or ballistic missile programs or other activities prohibited by the relevant UN Security Council resolutions to generate income. If it is confirmed by credible information that the transaction is not for the purpose of people's livelihood or related to the DPRK's nuclear or ballistic missile programs, the Customs Department will not release the goods. Second, it is confirmed that the coal is not of North Korean origin, but is transported through the DPRK exclusively for export from the port of Rozin (Rason), and that such transactions do not involve the generation of income for the DPRK's nuclear or ballistic missile programs or other activities prohibited by the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
