Establishment of the Chinese Medical Association (CMA) Axiomatic Surgical Scholarship In 1996, Johnson & Johnson and the Chinese Medical Association (CMA) established the CMA Axiomatic Surgical Scholarship to encourage young and middle-aged physicians to actively conduct academic research and publish scholarly papers in the field of surgical suturing; in 1998, Johnson & Johnson collaborated with the Chinese Medical Association (CMAC) to organize the "World Diabetes Day" program, which is held on World Diabetes Day. Since 1998, on World Diabetes Day, Johnson & Johnson has cooperated with the Diabetes Branch of the Chinese Medical Association (CMA) to carry out free diabetes education and training for grassroots healthcare workers throughout China. In 2001, Johnson & Johnson sponsored the "East-West Health Care Perspectives in the 21st Century" conference organized by the Chinese Medical Association (CMA) and Harvard Medical School (HMS) in the United States. In 2002, Johnson & Johnson's subsidiaries in China cooperated with the Red Cross Society of China to support the construction of China's hematopoietic stem cell donor database; from 2004 to the present, Johnson & Johnson (China) Medical Devices Co., Ltd. exclusively sponsors the Global Business Ethics Course organized by Junior Achievement, to help young students in their formal training. In addition, we help young students to establish a correct view of professional ethics and value orientation before they formally enter the society. Meanwhile, we are committed to protecting the environment and natural resources as stated in the company's credo, and we are actively engaged in environmental protection and have passed the ISO14001 environmental certification.
Million Women Breast Screening Project
Breast cancer is currently the number one female cancer in China due to its late detection and delayed treatment. One of the main reasons for this is the lack of a complete breast screening system for women after the age of 40 in China. In response, the Chinese Ministry of Health appointed the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association to set up a 6-month program to provide breast screening and breast cancer health education to 1,000,000 women. The Women's Health Department of Johnson & Johnson (China) Medical Devices Co., Ltd. provided equipment and technical support, as well as professional training for healthcare workers.
Establishment of Johnson & Johnson Medical Academic Centers Johnson & Johnson (China) Medical Devices, in line with the principle of "exploring medical technology and caring for human health", established two professional academic centers in China: Johnson & Johnson Medical Academic Center in Shanghai and Johnson & Johnson Medical Academic Center in Beijing in 2001 and 2005, respectively. With advanced facilities and professional services, the Academic Centers provide Chinese physicians with professional knowledge and skills training in laparoscopic surgery, cardiovascular intervention, orthopaedic surgery, trauma medicine and other fields through training courses, simulation training, animal testing, live tele-surgery and forums, etc. They aim to shorten the learning curve and help promote and leapfrog the concepts and technologies of new clinical medicine through the world-class preclinical training system.
At the same time, the Johnson & Johnson Medical Academic Center creates a platform for Chinese physicians to communicate with their international counterparts, and promotes the globalization of medicine and the simultaneous development of medical theories for the benefit of mankind through internationalized medical lectures, international seminars, and academic salons given by renowned domestic and foreign medical experts.
