What causes rapid ESR and low cholesterol?

Erythrocyte sedimentation rate is short for ESR. Erythrocyte sedimentation refers to the speed of erythrocyte sedimentation under certain conditions. The erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) of healthy people fluctuates in a narrow range, ranging from 0 ~ 15 mm/h for men and 0 ~ 20 mm/h for women. Regardless of gender, the erythrocyte sedimentation rate is slightly accelerated when it is faster than 25mm/h, and it is severely accelerated when it exceeds 50 mm/h. The increase of ESR is both physiological and pathological. Physiological ESR is common in women's menstrual period, pregnancy, high temperature operation, heavy physical labor and strenuous exercise. Pathological ESR is common in the following situations: (1) rheumatic or acute infectious diseases, such as rheumatic heart disease, rheumatoid arthritis, measles, etc. (2) Various inflammations, such as pneumonia, cholecystitis and septicemia; (3) Tuberculosis, such as tuberculosis, lymphoid tuberculosis and bone tuberculosis; (4) Diseases of circulation and blood system, such as acute endocarditis, myocardial infarction, anemia and hemorrhagic diseases; (5) Other diseases, such as malignant tumor, hypercholesterolemia, lupus erythematosus, syphilis, kala-azar, etc. There are both physiological and pathological reasons for the increase of erythrocyte sedimentation rate. The increase of erythrocyte sedimentation rate can not be regarded as the only basis for diagnosing diseases, but only as a reference for estimating the dynamic evolution, treatment effect and prognosis of some diseases. For diseases that have been diagnosed, ESR can be used to observe the course of disease, guide treatment and understand the prognosis. When the disease is in the eating period or active period, the erythrocyte sedimentation rate often increases or continues to increase; When the disease is in a stable period or recovery period, the erythrocyte sedimentation rate slows down; When the drug treatment is effective, the ESR slows down until it returns to normal.
