Xuedun Festival is a national festival of Tibetan people in Tibet, Qinghai, Gansu, Sichuan, Yunnan and other provinces, and it is one of the national intangible cultural heritages.

Sun Buddha ceremony
As a prelude to the festival, the Buddha exhibition in drepung monastery is an extraordinary ceremony. Drepung monastery is the largest Buddhist temple in Tibet, which was built by four disciples of Zong Kaba, the founder of Gelug Sect of Tibetan Buddhism, in 14 16.
The ceremony of drying Buddha statues was held in drepung monastery. With the approaching of the Buddha exhibition time and the French trumpets resounding through the valley, nearly 100 monks entered the silk woven Qiangba Buddha statue, just like a long dragon. The huge Thangka was slowly carried out from the Cuoqin Hall in drepung monastery and marched to the top of the dedicated Buddha booth on the west side of drepung monastery.
The giant thangka is slowly displayed from top to bottom. The giant Thangka is about 30 meters long and slightly square, with Buddha Sakyamuni in the middle, a bowl in his left hand and a magic finger in his right hand, surrounded by bodhisattvas and protectors.
