There are different names in different languages, such as Pudina, Green Peppermint, Garden Peppermint, Hindi, Pudina, Bengali, Bhudina and Chetni-maruga. But in many or all Indian languages, it is usually called Pudina.

Phenolic compounds are a kind of secondary metabolites that are ubiquitous in plants and have biological activities. These compounds usually exist in the form of esters and glycosides in their natural sources.
Peppermint oil is mainly composed of menthol (37.4%), menthyl acetate (17.4%) and menthone (12.7%).
Other pharmacologically active components include bitter substances, caffeic acid, flavonoids (12%), polymerized polyphenols (19%), carotene, tocopherol, betaine, choline and tannin.
The leaves contain flavonoid glycosides, Leymus chinensis glycosides, luteolin 7-o- rutin, hesperidin, isoflavones, dioscin, Leymus chinensis 7-o- glucoside, pomelo rutin and so on. And rosmarinic acid, azulene, choline, carotene, etc.

Use, benefit and application of mint

The leaves of mint are used as anthers to help food digestion.

Peppermint oil vapor is used as an inhaler for respiratory congestion.
