OHSAS 1800 1 Why should it be converted to ISO standard?
1. According to relevant surveys, although 45 countries use OHSAS 1800 1 standard framework to manage their occupational health management, safety management and health management systems, it is not universal. After being converted into ISO standard, its application scope can be further expanded, and ISO standard is recognized globally and more authoritative.
2. The International Organization for Standardization has more than 100 member countries, and the relevant personnel of these member countries will participate in the formulation of ISO 4500 1, which will make it easier to combine with other occupational health and safety standards.
OHSAS 1800 1 and ISO4500 1 have the same main objectives, both of which are to improve the occupational health and safety performance of organizations, but there are also many differences, mainly in the following aspects: the new ISO4500 1 standard mainly adopts the advanced structure of ISO management system, and pays more attention to organizational environment and management. It emphasizes the responsibility and leadership of top managers, risk-based thinking, performance monitoring and measurement, and details the requirements of hazard identification and risk assessment, as well as the refinement of operational control.
Since OHSAS 1800 1 has been revoked, ISO4500 1 will be another supplement to the new field of management system and will promote the smooth operation among organizations.
