Brief introduction of School of Mechanical Engineering, Southeast University

The predecessor of the School of Mechanical Engineering of Southeast University can be traced back to the specialized courses of Nanjing Normal University, which was founded in 19 16. From 1930s to 1950s, it experienced the preparatory course of construction machinery of National Southeast University, department of mechanical engineering of Institute of Technology of National Central University and department of mechanical engineering of Institute of Technology of Nanjing University. In 1950s and 1980s, it was renamed department of mechanical engineering of Nanjing Institute of Technology, 1988 department of mechanical engineering of Southeast University, and Southeast University was established in 2006. In the 90-year history of running a school, Mao Yisheng, Zhou Ren, Zhou Huijiu, Wu, Qian, Bai Shiyi, Chen, Ceng Dechao, Yan, Zhao, Wang Guo Jin, Tong Binggang, Ding Henggao and other famous scholars and academicians of the two academies all worked or studied in the School of Mechanical Engineering. Over the past 90 years, the School of Mechanical Engineering has not only trained more than 1 10,000 graduates for China's machinery, electronics and other industrial fields, but also supported the establishment and development of disciplines and specialties such as energy and power, aviation, automation, instrument science, automobiles and materials, making important contributions to China's higher education and national economic construction.

At present, the School of Mechanical Engineering has the right to award doctoral degrees in the first-class discipline of mechanical engineering and post-doctoral mobile stations, and has six doctoral/master's degree points in two disciplines: mechanical manufacturing and automation, mechanical electronic engineering, mechanical design and theory, vehicle engineering, industrial design and manufacturing industrial engineering. Mechanical manufacturing and its automation were awarded as key disciplines in Jiangsu Province in 2005, national key discipline cultivation points in 2006 and national key (cultivation) disciplines in 2007.

Taking the opportunity of "2 1 1 Project" and "985 Project", our college focuses on the * * technology in modern equipment design and manufacturing, including digital and integrated development technology, system modeling of manufacturing system and process, flexible reconfiguration and quality assurance technology, electromechanical system quality monitoring, electromagnetic compatibility and environmental reliability technology, nano-manufacturing, ultra-precision machining and micro-machining technology. It has made its own characteristics in the design, manufacture, adaptive control, quality assurance, electromagnetic compatibility and other aspects of modern automation equipment such as new light sources and equipment, smart cars and engineering vehicles, CNC machine tools, special equipment for semiconductor integrated circuits, and micro-special machinery.

In recent years, the School of Mechanical Engineering has undertaken and completed a large number of national-level projects, such as the national key basic research (973) pre-research plan, the national high-tech research and development plan (863), the national key scientific research projects and the key areas of the National Natural Science Foundation. At the same time, actively serve local economic construction and pay attention to the transformation and industrialization of scientific research results. It has undertaken 13 major scientific and technological achievements transformation projects in Jiangsu province, with a total construction fund of more than 200 million yuan. Since the 1990s, our college has won the second prize of national scientific and technological progress 1, 6 provincial first prizes, 20 second prizes, 40 third and fourth prizes and 60 patents. In terms of base construction, Jiangsu Key Laboratory for Design and Manufacture of Micro-nano Biomedical Devices, New Light Source Technology and Equipment Engineering Research Center of the Ministry of Education, Jiangsu Electromagnetic Compatibility Testing Platform (lead unit), Jiangsu CNC Machine Tool Engineering Center, Jiangsu Textile Machinery Engineering Center, Jiangsu Sheet Processing Engineering Center, National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center and Electromechanical Integration Engineering Training Center have been successfully built in recent years. The construction of these bases has laid a good foundation for the further rapid development of the discipline.

Focusing on the goal of cultivating high-quality talents, the college has integrated, integrated and deepened the existing teaching achievements, formed a scientific and standardized education system, and built national excellent courses: Mechanical Design, Mechanical Engineering Measurement and Control Technology, Mechanical Manufacturing Practice and Microcomputer System and Interface. Classical textbooks such as Mechanical Principles and Fundamentals of Mechanical Design have been compiled, as well as several national 11th Five-Year Plan textbooks. Since 2000, it has won 2 second prizes for national teaching achievements, 2 special prizes for provincial teaching achievements and 4 first prizes. In 2003, mechanical engineering and its automation specialty was rated as the first batch of brand specialty in Jiangsu Province, and in 2007, it was approved by the Ministry of Education as "the construction point of characteristic specialty in colleges and universities". In 2007, she successfully passed the professional certification of engineering education in China. In 2007, "Experimental Zone for Training Innovative Talents in Mechanical Power Engineering" was selected as the national "Construction Project of Innovative Experimental Zone for Talent Training Mode". The graduates trained by the college are welcomed by enterprises and institutions because of their solid professional foundation, comprehensive knowledge, innovative spirit and strong ability, and most of them have become the technical backbone in their respective fields and the effective force to promote the scientific and technological progress of machinery manufacturing industry.

The activities of college students are colorful. The formed team won the Cup twice in the National Challenge Cup Entrepreneurship Competition for College Students, and made great achievements in the National Challenge Cup Science and Technology Works Competition, the World Robot Soccer Competition and the national and provincial mechanical, electronic, physics, mathematics and other disciplines competitions. Paying attention to the improvement of students' social practice ability and humanistic quality, and adhering to the activity of "Selected Reading of Famous Books" for many years, the student social practice team has been awarded the title of excellent social practice team by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League and Jiangsu Province for many times. Students extensively carry out international and overseas exchange activities, and carry out various forms of exchange students and holiday internships with the United States, Japan, Germany, Italy, French, Hongkong and Taiwan Province Province.
