Parts 1 3:
Create a healthy thinking mode
1
Avoid objects and places that will trigger your memory. Have you ever found that when you go to a place or something nearby, bad memories will emerge and make you unprepared? Maybe you haven't realized what triggered your memory. For example, you have a bad memory related to an accident in your primary school, and you will think of it every time you pass by this school. If you start to take a new route to work in the morning and avoid the street of your school, you are more likely to avoid your bad memories.
If you can completely avoid the event that triggers your bad memory, it may eventually make you forget. You have no reason to think about it. When you move on with your life, other more important thoughts will replace this bad memory.
Of course, not all trigger points can be avoided. Maybe you don't want to change your work route, you don't want to donate your science fiction collection, or you don't want your ex to tell you that he is going to break up with you and never listen to their songs again, just because you saw your favorite band for the last time. If it is not feasible to avoid these trigger points, or because there are too many trigger points here, or you hate spending so much time on bad memories, then there are other ways to deal with these memories.
2
Think about bad memories until they no longer work. The first few times when you think of something bad, you may be caught off guard and feel anxious and depressed. This kind of stimulation may make you avoid thinking about it as much as possible, but trying to suppress this kind of memory will make the bad memory active again, and the effect will be greater. Don't force yourself to forget, let yourself remember what happened. Think about it until it doesn't hurt you anymore. Finally, as long as you don't think about it often, it won't bring you more pain. If the memory becomes heavy in your mind, go for a walk or do some brisk exercise.
Try to comfort yourself, the fact is that the memories caused by this incident stop here. No matter what happened, whether people laughed at you when you were embarrassed or the dangerous situation you experienced, it was over.
In some cases, a bad memory may be a little paranoid. When you recall bad memories repeatedly, observe your mood. If you realize that it will still hurt you, even if you deliberately think about it, try different ways to get rid of it.
three
Try to change your memory. Every time I think of something, there is a little change. Every time there is a small gap in your memory, your brain will replace it with some false information. You can use your brain to replace the missing parts with different information. Eventually, you will begin to recall the changed memories.
