Can Parkinson eat fried food?

If you have just been diagnosed with neurodegenerative diseases, it may be difficult to learn to control and manage your diet. In China, every year, thousands of Parkinson's patients are just beginning to understand what western medicine eats, what they are forbidden to eat, and how to control food types. Correct diet, healthy living habits and reasonable drug treatment are helpful to recover symptoms, such as rigidity, tremor, postural instability and dystonia, and improve the quality of life. So what foods should Parkinson's patients avoid and which foods are helpful to them? Here are some dietary guidelines.

1, it is forbidden to use both medicine and food.

In the early stage, levodopa is the best drug to treat Parkinson's disease. Ideally, you should play it 30 minutes before meals or at least one hour after meals. But it will make some people sick. Doctors may prescribe other drugs or different combinations of drugs, which may not completely eliminate the symptoms of nausea. In this case, your doctor may advise you to take medicine to combat its side effects.

In addition, high-protein foods should also be controlled. In rare cases, a high-protein diet will reduce the efficacy of levodopa. Stay away from mouthwashes, because most mouthwashes usually contain alcohol, which will dry the mouth.

2. Taboo dairy products

Some substances in dairy products may have a negative impact on the level of oxidation in the brain, making the symptoms more persistent. This effect is stronger in men than in women, but it is not obvious in calcium supplementation.

If you want to stop eating milk, cheese, yogurt and other dairy products, you can consider supplementing calcium to make up for the loss of calcium in your diet. However, low calcium intake will not damage bone health.

3. Avoid foods with high saturated fat content.

The role of foods with high saturated fat content in the progression of Parkinson's disease is still under study and often conflicts with each other. We may finally find that some types of saturated fat can actually help patients with Parkinson's disease.

Some studies have shown that a ketogenic low-protein diet is beneficial to some patients with Parkinson's disease. Other studies have found that the risk of high saturated fat intake worsens. But in general, fried food will change your metabolism, increase your blood pressure and affect your cholesterol. These things are not good for your health, especially when you treat Parkinson's disease.

4. Preventive measures

Eat hot and cold food separately.

When resting, keep your head up to prevent stomach upset.

Avoid drinking citrus juice, such as orange juice or grapefruit juice. Choose non-citrus juices rich in antioxidants, such as freshly squeezed berries, mangoes, papaya and watermelon. These fruits are high in vitamin C, which can strengthen your immune system.

Don't force yourself to eat when you feel sick.
