What's the date of National Eye Care Day?

National Eye Love Day is June 6th every year.

June 6th every year is National Eye-Love Day. Eyes are one of the most important senses of human beings. Improper eye habits can lead to eye diseases and endanger health. 1992, Geng, a professor of ophthalmology and epidemiology at Tianjin Medical University, put forward an initiative to set up an eye-loving day for the first time in China, and the initiative was responded to, and May 5 of each year was designated as "National Eye-loving Day".

1996, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Education, the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, the China Disabled Persons' Federation and other ministries and commissions jointly issued a notice, listing Eye-Love Day as one of the national festivals and redetermining June 6 as the National Eye-Love Day.

In March, 20021,National Health Commission decided to set up the National Advisory Committee of Experts on Vision Health Management for Children and Adolescents in order to improve the decision-making level of vision health management for children and adolescents, such as myopia prevention and control, and promote the scientific development of vision health for children and adolescents.

Eye nutrition

Protein: The function of rod cells in retina is mainly dark vision, while cone cells are mainly bright vision. Rod cells are sensitive to low light because they have special visual characteristics. Visual quality is synthesized by protein and vitamin A. Without it, eye diseases such as night blindness and cataract will be caused.

Vitamin A: Visual substance is a compound protein containing vitamin A derivatives. If vitamin A is deficient or insufficient, the regeneration of visual quality will be slow and imperfect, thus reducing the dark adaptation function and affecting night vision; It can also cause corneal epithelium to fall off, thicken and keratinize, making this originally transparent membrane opaque.

Vitamin B 1: It is an important substance to maintain and participate in the function and metabolism of nerve (including optic nerve) cells. If lacking or insufficient, it is easy to make eyes dry and even cause optic nerve inflammation.

Vitamin C: Vitamin C in eyeball lens is obviously higher than other tissues, and it is an important nutritional component of lens. If the intake is insufficient, it will often make the lens turbid, which is one of the important reasons for cataract.
