Anhui University of Science and Technology is located in Huainan City, Anhui Province. Anhui University of Science and Technology is a key university supported by the basic capacity building project of universities in the central and western regions of the country, the "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Plan" of the Ministry of Education, the training and selection base for reserve officers of the People's Liberation Army in China, the first batch of demonstration universities in China to deepen the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship education, the first batch of national "new engineering research and practice projects" selected by universities, and the national demonstration base for training innovative talents.
Founded in 1945, the school is the first engineering university in Anhui Province and one of the first two universities in China to train mining talents. 1955, the school was upgraded from Huainan Institute of Coal Mining Technology to Hefei Institute of Mining Technology, and 1958 was renamed Hefei University of Technology. 197 1, the disciplines and specialties related to coal mines moved back to Huainan and merged with Huainan Coal Mine School (1963 Huainan Mining Institute moved to Taishan, Shandong Province, and Huainan Coal Mine School stayed behind). After that, it went through the school-running period of Huainan Mining Institute and Huainan Institute of Technology, during which the former East China Coal Medical College and Huainan Chemical School were merged successively. During the period of 1998, the school was transferred from the Ministry of Coal Industry to Anhui Province, and the management system of "combining the central and local governments and giving priority to local management" was implemented. In 2002, the school was renamed Anhui University of Science and Technology.
