Learning characteristics of higher vocational students

1. Various learning starting points

Students from ordinary high schools and vocational high schools in higher vocational colleges account for a considerable proportion, and the proportion is obviously different due to different factors such as schools and regions. Generally speaking, there are more students in ordinary high schools than in vocational high schools. The main reason for the diversification of learning starting point of higher vocational students is that the entrance conditions, enrollment methods and teaching emphasis in secondary education are different between ordinary high schools and secondary vocational schools. In the study of cultural basic courses, ordinary high school students have a good foundation, and in the study of professional skills courses, vocational middle school students have a certain foundation. In addition, due to the differences of teaching contents in different provinces, the learning starting point of students in higher vocational colleges is also diversified.

2. Enthusiastic about online entertainment

Higher vocational students' use of the Internet has the following characteristics: first, the purpose of higher vocational students surfing the Internet is mostly for entertainment, and less for learning through the Internet; Second, the second-year students in higher vocational colleges spend more time online than the first-year and third-year students; Third, most boys are keen on online games, while girls are keen on TV series, entertainment information and online shopping; Fourth, mobile phones and laptops are the main ways for college students to surf the Internet, and some students play mobile phones in class. Fifth, the computer operation and network application ability of non-computer majors in higher vocational colleges is generally lower than that of ordinary college students, and their information ability has improved during their college years, but to a small extent.

3. Mental health status is lower than that of ordinary college students.

The existing research results show that the mental health status of higher vocational students is different from that of ordinary undergraduates, and the overall mental health level is low. The Cattell 16PF test shows that the mental health level and academic performance level of vocational college students are slightly lower than the national norm of college students, and the scores of interpersonal sensitivity, anxiety and depression in SCL-90 are higher than those of ordinary college students. Like ordinary college students, the mental health problems of vocational college students are caused by many reasons, including growth experience, social environment and their own physical and mental development level. Based on the existing research results and the author's experience in participating in higher vocational and ordinary undergraduate life, the reasons for the psychological sub-health of higher vocational students are mainly in three aspects: academic level, employment pressure and family education.
