Summary of research on nurses' occupational low back pain

Low back pain (LBP) is an occupation-related disease, and the incidence of LBP in the population is about 85%. [1] LBP and shoulder, neck, arm and leg pain are collectively referred to as musculoskeletal disorders (MSD), the most basic features of which are pain and motor dysfunction. [2-3] With the development of science and technology, the composition of occupational diseases has changed significantly. In many countries, low back pain has always been the primary cause of occupational diseases, and has become the most common cause of medical treatment, hospitalization or surgery. [1] Therefore, the National Security and Health Agency (NIOSH) has listed MSD as the focus of research and prevention since 1989. A large number of studies show that nurses are the high-risk group of low back pain. [4-6] The risk of LBP among nurses and assistant nurses is 2. Five times that of other professional women. [4] 10% of nurses are absent for more than 4 weeks every year. [7]LBP, as a serious occupational health problem affecting nurses' health and work, has been widely concerned in European and American countries. In order to attract the attention of Chinese nurses, this paper briefly summarizes the research situation of foreign nurses' career LBP in recent years.

In a word, low back pain has become a serious problem affecting nurses' health. It is of great practical significance to learn from foreign experience, study the prevalence and risk factors of LBP among nurses in China, and formulate intervention measures suitable for China's national conditions to reduce the occurrence of LBP among nurses in China.
