The story of knowledge guarding life

On February 26, 2004, before the Indian Ocean tsunami, a girl played with sand at Maikao Beach. Suddenly, she found a strange phenomenon: many bubbles appeared on the sea surface, and the tide suddenly receded.

She suddenly remembered what the teacher had said about tsunami in class. Once you encounter this sign, it means there is a tsunami. She told her mother immediately.

A terrible disaster that could not be predicted by scientific instruments was actually detected by a child. The child saved 100 lives. The children's names are Tilly and Smith. They are 10-year-old Englishmen. When other tourists who were intoxicated by the beauty of the seaside were confused by the sudden low tide, leaving ships and marine fish on the beach, Tilly realized that this was a dangerous omen of tsunami raid.

Tilly's mother is clever and rational. After listening to the child's story, she immediately contacted the staff of McCaw Beach Hotel to evacuate more than 100 tourists on the beach to safety. Less than a few minutes after the tourists left the beach, waves more than ten meters high suddenly hit the shore. Fortunately, because of Tilly, Maikao Beach became one of the few beaches with no casualties in this tsunami.

Faced with the ominous sign at sea, the beach staff who accompanied the sea did not find it, the fishermen did not find it, but a child found it.

Everything will happen in this world, but all natural disasters actually have signs. The Jews said, "When the flood comes, God will send someone to build Noah's ark." However, many people turn a blind eye to God's message. Is this ignorance of nature or lack of due respect for nature?

Japan is a country with frequent earthquakes. In their educational philosophy, crisis education begins in kindergarten. From the day when Japanese children are sensible, they are often instilled with early warning information about catastrophic natural disasters such as earthquakes and tsunamis, as well as knowledge about which areas are relatively safe when earthquakes and tsunamis occur.

The year before last, a friend of mine went to work in Japan. I didn't learn business knowledge on my first day at work. What the company sent him was a stack of pamphlets to escape from the earthquake.

In Japan, children are very aware of their environment and they know how to escape after the earthquake.

In China, there is a real lack of education on the omen of natural disasters. We have never paid attention to how to recognize the omen of disaster and how to escape under special circumstances.

A few years ago, a primary school student in Chongqing finished visiting Hongqiao in Qijiang and wrote a composition. The article said: "The bridge is full of cracks. The whole bridge shook when the car passed by. I think this bridge is going to collapse ... "After reading it, the mother criticized the child:" This bridge is the pride of this city. How can you write like this? " But not long after, the whole Rainbow Bridge collapsed and 40 people were killed ... British mothers believed what their children saw, which saved more than 100 people from disaster. It is easy for Chinese mothers to deny what their children saw, but the disaster finally proved that what their children saw was true.

Children's eyes are the brightest. Our educators should learn a lesson from the little girl Tilly's behavior: we should not only trust her eyes, but also never lack the content of life education in education.
