Mainly eat a lot of concentrate, dry rough forage or too broken feed, especially feed a lot of powder feed and suddenly grab food and steal a lot of concentrate. Lack of drinking water and sudden change of feed can sometimes cause this disease.
(2) Symptoms
The general feature is that the rumen is full and firm, but the degree of symptoms is often different due to the etiology and the amount of toxic substances decomposed in the rumen. The sick sheep are listless and have no appetite. In severe cases, people lose appetite, stop ruminating and burping, stand with limbs together, arch their backs, and occasionally have abdominal pain symptoms such as caring for their stomachs and kicking their hind feet.
(3) Prevention
Scientifically processing and matching sheep feed; Strengthen concentrate management to prevent sheep from stealing food; Scientific feeding methods to prevent strong sheep from eating more; Adding concentrate, increasing day by day; Strengthen fattening sheep and ensure continuous concentrated feed in the trough.
(4) treatment
The key is to eliminate diarrhea, stop fermentation, prevent corrosion, correct rumen acidic environment, prevent sheep acidosis, strengthen stomach and replenish body fluids. Paraffin oil 100 ml, artificial salt 50 g or magnesium sulfate 50 g, aromatic ammonia 10 ml and water 500 ml can be taken once; In order to relieve acidosis, 100 ml of 5% sodium bicarbonate can be mixed with 200 ml of 5% glucose and injected intravenously once; In order to prevent the deterioration of the disease caused by acidosis, the stomach tube can be washed with lime water; When the heart is weak, 4 ml 10% sodium camphor sulfonate can be injected intravenously or intramuscularly. When respiratory system and blood circulation fail, 2 ml of nikethamide injection can be injected intramuscularly. If the drug treatment effect is not good, the rumen can be cut open for rescue, but it must be good and economical.
(5) Nursing care
All sheep suffering from a large number of cannibalism concentrate should be forbidden to drink water before diarrhea after taking medicine, so as to avoid the rapid expansion of concentrate in rumen after meeting water, resulting in more serious consequences. Sheep that are sick for other reasons should stop feeding. When the sheep's condition begins to improve, it is forbidden to feed concentrate and only feed high-quality forage until it is cured.
