Space is distorted. When our speed is close to the speed of light, we can reach any space position, and space is no longer the concept of space as we know it now.
Just like two points on a piece of paper, when the paper is laid flat, the linear distance between the two points is the shortest, which is what we see with the naked eye. When the paper is folded, two points can almost overlap, which is equivalent to the so-called space distortion.
These are all ideas of Einstein's theory of relativity. Humans can't reach the speed of light for the time being, so they can't verify it.
