The origin of place names
One view, represented by Li Hualong's "Scattering the Land to Deal with the Aftermath" in Wanli Period, is in favor of "Geography of Ming Dynasty" and "Guizhou Tongzhi" (Republic of China), and holds that the name of Renhuai originated from the establishment of Huaiyang County here in ancient times. Its basis is that there is a scenic spot "Huaiyang Cave" in the county, and the county name is named after the cave.
However, this statement was denied by the editors of Zunyi Fuzhi on the grounds that Huaiyang Cave was named by Lingcheng of Renhuai County after the mentioned time. There is no Huaiyang county in history.
Another view, represented by the military and civilian records of Zunyi in Ming Dynasty, is supported by Tao Shu's suggestion of establishing Renhuai County and Zunyi Records in early Qing Dynasty. It is believed that there were Renhuai County and Renhuai Fort in Song Dynasty, Renhuai Dragon Lawsuit in Yuan Dynasty and Renhuai Military Symbol in Ming Dynasty, hence the name Renhuai County.
