How to choose fattening piglets

When buying piglets, we should start with the variety, body shape, development and health.

Good hybrid piglets should be selected for fattening. Because, compared with purebred pigs, hybrid pigs have stronger viability, faster growth, less feed, stronger disease resistance and better economic benefits. When choosing piglets, choose ones with good body shape and appearance. Piglets should have: waist length, chest width, moderate mouth tube length, deep mouth fork and flat lips, big eyes, full hips, strong limbs, thin and elastic skin, shiny hair, strong physique and well-developed parts. Piglets should be healthy and pay attention to whether they are sick. Under normal circumstances, all piglets are healthy, with bright eyes, neat and shiny fur, lively tail, crisp cry and loose feces (Figure 7- 1). Buying big and strong piglets can gain weight quickly when fattening, save feed, and have low morbidity and mortality. See table 7- 1 for the relationship between piglet weight and fattening effect.
