Dazhou city was renamed after the revocation of Dachuan area and county-level Dachuan city. Daxian County has a long history since ancient times, and most areas have been changed to Dachuan District, becoming a jurisdiction of Dazhou City.
1950, Daxian County Special Zone was established, which governs 8 counties, including Daxian County, Xuanhan County, Kaijiang County, Pingchang County, Bazhong County, Nanjiang County, Tongjiang County and Wanyuan County, and belongs to North Sichuan Administrative Region.
On July 5th, 1993, Daxian area was renamed Dachuan area.
1June 20th, 999, Dachuan area was abolished, and prefecture-level Dazhou City was established, and the Municipal People's Government was located in Ye He Street, Tongchuan District.
2013July 18, approved by the State Council: Daxian County was abolished and Dachuan District of Dazhou City was established.
