History of Chinese Journal of Psychiatry

It has been 40 years since China Journal of Neuropsychiatry 1955 was founded. Over the past 40 years, she has been an objective record and milestone in the development of neuropsychiatry in China. It is also a high-level professional academic journal in the field of neuropsychiatry in China. It disseminates scientific information, records scientific research achievements, develops intellectual resources, promotes talent growth, and makes important contributions to the development of neuropsychiatry in China. Reviewing the course of the past 40 years and summing up experience will make our future efforts more clear and play a greater role. Time: (1955 ~ 1966)

Before liberation, the cause of neuropsychiatry was not taken seriously by the government at that time, and there were few professional institutions. Therefore, few people are engaged in this major, and neuropsychiatry has become a weak link in medical science in China. After the founding of People's Republic of China (PRC), the Party and the government paid special attention to people's sufferings and health, and the neuropsychiatric undertakings gradually developed. 195 1 In August, the branch of neuropsychiatry of Chinese Medical Association was established, during which a few papers on neuropsychiatry were published in Chinese Medical Journal and Chinese Journal of Internal Medicine. With the development of neuropsychiatry and the expansion of professional team, neuropsychiatric workers are eager to change the backward appearance of our country with full enthusiasm. They are eager to acquire new knowledge, new theories and new skills, constantly improve the medical level and better protect people's health. In order to meet the needs of this situation, at the enlarged meeting of the Standing Committee of Neuropsychiatry Branch of Chinese Medical Association held in July, 1954, it was decided to establish the Chinese Journal of Neuropsychiatry. Subsequently, the first editorial board of China Journal of Neuropsychiatry was established, with Xu Yingkui as the chief editor, Feng Yingkun, Wu Zhengyi, Wang Weizeng and Zhang Yuanchang as deputy editors, and Mu Huaizhu as full-time editor. With the active preparation of all editorial board members and full-time staff, the first issue of China Journal of Neuropsychiatry was published on March 1955, with 80 pages each, published by People's Health Publishing House, and the title was inscribed by Fu Lianzhang, then vice minister of health and president of Chinese Medical Association.

The policy of running a journal is to take neuropsychiatric experts as the main readers, implement the health policy, combine popularization with improvement, and popularize the knowledge and research experience of prevention and treatment methods for cerebrovascular diseases, nervous system tumors, epilepsy, neurosis, schizophrenia and other diseases that seriously endanger people's health. And medical research should be closely integrated with practice to better serve production and construction.

The editorial department of China Journal of Neuropsychiatry was originally located in Sandiao Hutong, Dongdan, Beijing, and then moved to the new office building of Chinese Medical Association in Dongsi West Street, Beijing. 1957. At the beginning of publication, the editorial board was held in the offices of Professor Xu Yingkui and Professor Feng Yingkun from the Department of Neurology of Union Medical College Hospital, and Xu Yingkui, Feng Yingkun, Wei Yulin, Zhao Baodi and Wang Zhiyuan often attended. In 1960s, it was held in the conference room of Chinese Medical Association, attended by Xu Yingkui, Feng Yingkun, Zhao Baoxun, Tan Mingxun, Wu Zhengyi, Shen Yuchun, Chen, Wang Zhongcheng, etc. In the 1950s and 1960s, the editorial board in Beijing was often held on Sundays or evenings. At that time, editors Zhao Baoxun, Tan Mingxun, Chen, Chen, etc. often came to study and helped to process manuscripts and write editors' notes. Foreign editors Zhang, Xia, Tao Guotai and Yu are also very concerned about magazine work and help organize manuscripts.

1June, 958, the national conference on prevention and treatment of mental illness was held in Nanjing. The meeting decided to implement a three-level management system for mental patients, and the leading group for the prevention and treatment of mental diseases was composed of health, public security and civil affairs departments, and organized the implementation; Advocate the open management of mental patients, that is, don't lock or lock mental patients in wards. This conference greatly promoted the development of psychiatry in China. Through the cooperation of various departments, all localities have achieved remarkable results, with Shanghai, Beijing, Nanjing, Tianjin, Hangzhou and Suzhou doing better. In Shanghai, a leading group for the prevention and treatment of mental illness was set up and a number of psychiatric treatment stations were set up, which reduced the recurrence rate of mental illness by more than 3/4. The number of people who go out to hurt people and destroy things is also greatly reduced. The summary of this meeting and the introduction of work experience in various places after the meeting have been reported since the fourth issue of 1958, which has been welcomed by readers.

From 1959 to bimonthly, 1 issue has 84 pages, and thereafter each issue has 68 pages. English catalogue has been published since 1959, and English abstracts of major works have been published since the third issue of 1959.

On June 4th 1960, according to the notice of the higher authorities, this journal, together with all journals run by the Medical Association, stopped publishing, and checked the problems of exaggeration, omission, revisionism and difficulty in writing. 1963 After the national economic situation improved, the second editorial board of China Journal of Neuropsychiatry was re-elected, with Xu Yingkui as editor-in-chief, Feng Yingkun, Wu Zhengyi, Zhang Yuanchang and Chen Wei as deputy editors, and 1 1 new editorial board members were in their prime. Full-time editor or Mu Huaizhu, 1965 added Chen Xiuhua. After active planning, it was reissued on May 25th 1963 as a quarterly with 84 pages in each issue. Published by Chinese Medical Association.

1963165438+1From October 25th to February 2nd, the first national neuropsychiatry conference was held in Guangzhou. Many valuable clinical experiences and scientific research materials were exchanged, including the application of experimental research methods such as neuropathology, biochemistry and physiology, and the pathogenesis and treatment principles of neuropathology, neurosurgery and psychiatry were deeply discussed academically. This print changed from 1964No. 1 to 104, and reported the contents of this conference in detail. This paper focuses on the pathology of cerebral schistosomiasis, the clinical, pathological and surgical treatment of cerebrovascular diseases, the clinical and EEG physiology of temporal lobe epilepsy, the rapid microscopic diagnosis and surgical treatment of intracranial tumors, the determination of aminotransferase in cerebrospinal fluid of nervous system diseases, the biochemical metabolic disorder of atypical endogenous psychosis, the investigation of genetic and biological factors of schizophrenia, the study of biochemical metabolism and psychology, and the comprehensive treatment of neurasthenia.

While neuropsychiatric science and its professional journals were booming in China, the "Cultural Revolution" broke out in 1966. Like almost all journals, this journal was forced to stop publishing again in September of the same year. Until 1978.

From 1955 to 1966 in September, * * * published 39 issues of 10, and published 1366 articles, with an average of 35 articles per issue. From 1955 to 1960, the table of contents is attached at the end of each volume, and the title index is changed from 1963. The print run of each issue increased from 4030 to 7658.

Characteristics of this stage:

2. 1 focus on practicality, and report more on clinical analysis of common diseases and summary of clinical diagnosis and treatment experience: in the early days of the founding of the People's Republic of China, there were few scientific research institutions and limited scientific research equipment, so it was very necessary to have many manuscripts of retrospective clinical analysis. In the past, the relevant textbooks and reference books in China, the epidemic situation, etiology, pathology and clinical manifestations of various diseases mostly quoted foreign data, which often did not conform to the actual situation in China. Therefore, a large number of clinical analysis manuscripts have been published one after another, which are well received by readers and provide detailed information for compiling relevant teaching materials and reference books in China. At the same time, the discussion of clinical pathology is often published, which is of great help to exercise clinical thinking, accurately diagnose diseases and correctly treat and nurse. Therefore, it has become one of the columns that readers like to read and watch.

2.2 In the early stage, translation and abstract accounted for a large proportion: in 1950s, each translation was 1 ~ 4, and abstract1~14; Most of the translations and abstracts come from the Soviet Union, and some abstracts come from Britain and America. Starting from 1958, a "summary" column was set up to comprehensively report the relevant foreign progress. Because our country's neuropsychiatric science foundation is very weak, it is still in its infancy in the 1950s, so we need to introduce more foreign experience and achievements to enrich ourselves.

2.3 There are few articles on basic research and clinical research. At present, * * * has published 605 articles, including 5 articles on basic research/kloc-0 (accounting for 2.5%) and 95 articles on clinical research (15.7%), most of which were published in the early 1960s. In 1950s, gross anatomy and pathology were relatively basic research, while in 1960s, biochemical and physiological research began to increase.

2.4 There are few papers on neurosurgery: few were published in the 1950s, and gradually increased in the 1960s, but the proportion is still very small. Of the 605 papers published at this stage, only 44 (7.3%) are related to neurosurgery, which is due to the late start of neurosurgery in China. The editorial board of this journal has always attached great importance to the development of neurosurgery, and often gives priority to publishing articles on the research results of neurosurgery.

2.5 Full reporting of information about academic conferences: The editorial board of this journal attaches great importance to the reporting of academic conferences, and thinks that academic conferences are a big classroom to show relevant experience summary and scientific research achievements in various places, and an important way to exchange information, broaden horizons, enlighten ideas, learn from each other, promote scientific development and promote talent growth. Therefore, the editorial board and editors of this journal actively participate in organizing manuscripts to report, so that readers who have not participated in academic conferences can also benefit from it.

2.6 Influenced by political movements and politics at that time, especially 1966, this edition published many political articles, sometimes each issue occupied half a page. The two suspensions (1960 and 1966) were all influenced by the political movement at that time. 1966 ceased publication for 12 years, which had a great influence on the development of neuropsychiatry. During this period, there was little scientific research work of neuropsychiatric workers in various places, and sporadic achievements could only be published in the reissued Chinese Medical Journal and Chinese Journal of Internal Medicine in the late Cultural Revolution. Chen Xiuhua, a full-time editor, has participated in the editing of these two magazines. 1976 After the downfall of the Gang of Four, 1978 held a national science conference in the spring, which issued a great call for the modernization of science and technology. Under the influence of reform and opening up and strengthening international academic exchanges, the vast number of neuropsychiatric scientists in China are encouraged to catch up with the development level of international neuropsychiatric science, and their academic thoughts are unprecedentedly active, forming a prosperous situation. In order to adapt to this situation, at the beginning of 1978, the Ministry of Health agreed to report it to the China Journal of Neuropsychiatry and reissue it with the approval of the State Science and Technology Commission. Chen Xiuhua was transferred from the editorial department of Chinese Journal of Internal Medicine to be responsible for preparing for the re-publication. In Jingyuan, Feng Yingkun, Chen, Zhao Baoxun, Tan Mingxun, Shen Yuchun, Wang Zhongcheng and others held several preparatory meetings to discuss the candidates for the editorial board and the reprint plan. In principle, the candidates for the editorial board after the re-publication are healthy in the last editorial board, and some provinces lack editorial boards, so please recommend candidates from the local medical association. Finally, it will be appointed after deliberation and approval by the Standing Committee of the Chinese Medical Association. The third editorial board of China Journal of Neuropsychiatry was established, with Feng Yingkun as the chief editor and Wu Zhengyi, Wang Zhongcheng, Zhang Yuanchang, Xia, Tao Guotai and Chen Wei as deputy editors. It coincided with the 2nd National Neuropsychiatric Conference held in Nanjing on July 4th ~ 10 of that year. During the meeting, the third plenary meeting of the editorial board of China Journal of Neuropsychiatry was held. Feng Yingkun and Chen Xiuhua respectively introduced the preparation of the magazine, the draft regulations on the work of the editorial board, the draft principles of peer review and the draft submission plan submitted for consideration. There was a heated discussion at the meeting, and local editorial boards indicated that they would try their best to organize and review relevant manuscripts for the magazine. Subsequently, on September 5 of the same year, the magazine was officially re-published, still quarterly, with 64 pages in each issue, and began to publish English abstracts of papers before references. From 1983 to bimonthly, each issue has 64 pages. Starting from 1988, the English abstract of the paper was published after each issue, and the English content of the paper was cancelled. Starting from 1993, the English abstract of the paper was placed under the Chinese abstract, and the English content of the paper was restored. Since 1980, this journal has been included in American medical index, China scientific and technological information catalogue (medical and health) and China medical abstracts. The full-time staff in the editing room has been increased from 1 editor to 3 editors and 1 editorial officers.

After the re-publication, this journal not only organizes corresponding manuscripts for the current needs of disease prevention and treatment, but also pays special attention to reporting the contents of relevant academic conferences to meet the wishes of readers.

In April 1984, the State Science and Technology Commission approved the establishment of Chinese Journal of Neurosurgery. After the publication of China Journal of Neurosurgery 1985, the journal no longer published neurosurgical manuscripts.

Under the leadership of Neuropsychiatry Branch of Chinese Medical Association, prepare for the re-election of the fourth editorial board. After repeated brewing, the Standing Committee of the Chinese Medical Association approved the establishment of the Fourth Editorial Committee of the Chinese Journal of Neuropsychiatry, with Chen as the chief editor and Xia, Zhou Xiaoda, Tao Guotai, Shi Yuquan, Tan Mingxun and Shen as the deputy editors, and adjusted it to 65438. 65438+ 1986 During the Third National Neuropsychiatric Academic Conference held in Chongqing from June 3 to 7, the fourth plenary session of the Editorial Committee of China Journal of Neuropsychiatry was held. At the meeting, editor-in-chief Chen introduced the change of the editorial board, and reported the work reports of this journal 1978 to 1986, as well as the editorial board's work rules (revised draft) and review methods (revised draft). Everyone had a heated discussion on how to run the magazine well and put forward many valuable opinions and suggestions. In particular, there is a high demand for the separate publication of neurology and psychiatry.

In order to let readers know the latest information of this major, a column of "Fine Defense Dynamics" was set up from 1986 to introduce the international academic conferences abroad and the development of neuropsychiatry. In order to strengthen the ideological orientation, a column "Describing the forest with characters" was set up to introduce the achievements of the older generation of neuropsychiatric professionals in their hard work, hard study and scholarship.

199 1 At the beginning of the year, preparations were made for the re-election of the fifth editorial board. After repeated brewing, the fifth editorial board of China Journal of Neuropsychiatry was formed in April of 199 1, with Chen Ren as the editor-in-chief and Shen Yuchun, Guo Yupu, Jiang,, and Lu Xuefen as the deputy editors. 199 1 The fifth plenary meeting of the editorial board of China Neuropsychiatric Journal was held in Jilin City in May. Editor-in-chief Chen reported on the reelection of the editorial board of 1986 to 1990 and the summary of the magazine's work. The meeting mainly discussed how to solve the problem of long and expired magazine publishing; Some editorial board members once again suggested dividing this journal into two magazines: Neurology and Psychiatry.

Due to the establishment of professional magazines in various places, such as Chinese Journal of Neuropsychiatric Diseases, Chinese Journal of Neurosurgery, Journal of Stroke and Neuropathy, etc. More than 20 kinds, at the same time, the cost of paper, printing and post office is rising. Since 1986, the price of each issue of this journal has exceeded 0.50 yuan per copy for many years, and it has gradually increased, so that the circulation has decreased year by year. From 1980 to 1993, the average number of prints per issue is 22294, 20066, 19297,19, 20445,18/. By 1988, under the pressure of rising prices, the economic situation of the series of magazines of Chinese Medical Association has fallen into a trough. 1 July 988/day, the author's manuscript fee will stop 1 year, and the manuscript processing fee will be collected from September 1 day (19 1 year).

Since 199 1, the emblem of Chinese Medical Association has been printed on the cover. According to the regulations of the General Administration of Publishing, from the second issue 1993, the traditional Chinese book titles inscribed by President Fu Lianzhang will be stopped and changed to simplified Chinese book titles.

From 1978 to 1994, * * published 17, 90 issues, published 3 106 articles, with an average of 34.5 articles per issue.

Characteristics of this stage:

2. 1 increase in basic research and clinical research: from 1978 to 1994, a total of * *1379 papers were published, including 82 basic research (5.9%) and 54 clinical research (0/kloc). The percentage of basic research and clinical research is more than 1 times that of 1950s and 1960s (2.5% for basic research and 15.7% for clinical research). This is a gratifying change, which is the result of strengthening scientific research and implementing the postgraduate system in various units over the years. Basic research papers can promote medical science in China. Most clinical studies are conducive to the growth of grassroots professionals and promote the prevention and treatment of neurology and psychiatry.

2.2 Rapid increase in the number of papers on neurosurgery: At this stage, neurosurgery developed rapidly, from 1978 to 1984, and * * published 472 papers, including 162 papers on neurosurgery, accounting for 34.3%. Compared with neurosurgery, which accounted for only 1.7%(5/292) in the 1950s and 12.5%(39/3 13) in the 1960s, it has made great progress, indicating that neurosurgery in China is developing vigorously, and many brain and nerve diseases can be cured or obviously improved by surgery. At the same time, it also shows that it is possible to establish a journal of neurology.

2.3 Increase in the number of key numbers and albums: The topics of key numbers and albums are planned by the editorial board according to the contributions, especially in combination with special symposiums and related academic conferences. At this stage, 45 key numbers are released, 13 albums and 58 albums, with an average of 3-4 albums per year. This is because from 1978 to 1993, the Society of Neuropsychiatry of Chinese Medical Association set up 14 professional study groups, all of which held various professional academic conferences, plus symposiums organized by this journal, totaling 29 (excluding the meetings that the editorial department of this journal did not attend), including neurology 19 and psychiatry. In addition to reporting the high-level papers of these academic conferences, most professional academic conferences and symposiums have written guiding meeting minutes and related diagnostic criteria, treatment plans, and efficacy judgment criteria. These minutes and scheme standards (see the attached table for details) fully reflect the contents and viewpoints of the meeting, and play an academic guiding role, which is well received by readers.

2.4 Add columns and activity pages: The original columns of this journal include reviews, papers, abstracts of papers, case reports, lectures, summaries, clinical and pathological (case) discussions, academic trends and book news. At this stage, academic discussions, technological reforms, international academic exchanges, careful prevention of trends, readers, authors and editors, and people's stories are added to enrich the content and active pages.

2.5 Strengthening the standardization of editing: Starting from 1986, strengthening the standardization of editing, strictly implementing legal units of measurement, and at the same time strengthening the standardization of charts, statistical symbols, references, terms and layout design, and implementing various national standards related to editing and publishing. 3. 1 Since its founding 40 years ago, this journal has carried out the health policy, adhered to the correct direction of running the journal, integrated theory with practice, popularized and improved, served socialist construction and made unremitting efforts. Therefore, it has made important contributions in improving the level of disease prevention and control, ensuring people's health, promoting the development of disciplines and cultivating professional talents. Here is a brief introduction.

3.2 Popularizing new theories, technologies and experiences: In the early days of the founding of the People's Republic of China, the team of neuropsychiatric professionals in China was very small. With the establishment and development of professional medical prevention and control institutions in various places, the number of professionals has increased rapidly, but most of them are diverted from the internal medicine team, lacking professional knowledge and reference books in related disciplines. In order to meet this demand, after the publication of this journal, we not only introduced the effective clinical experience in various parts of China through our works, but also paid special attention to soliciting contributions for these needs. Introduce foreign new theories, technologies and experiences in time in the form of translation and abstract, followed by literature review, and play the role of a national professional continuing education university without walls.

3.3 Promote the standardization of diagnosis and treatment of common neuropsychiatric diseases: In order to unify the diagnosis and treatment basis, standards and curative effect judgment of various neuropsychiatric diseases, the academic conferences and seminars held by the Neuropsychiatric Branch of Chinese Medical Association and its 14 professional group and our journal all pay great attention to formulating the classification, diagnostic criteria, treatment plan and curative effect evaluation criteria of related diseases, and our journal publishes relevant key numbers in time. It promoted the management of medical institutions, established and improved the standardization of medical quality and scientific research, and was warmly welcomed by the majority of neuropsychiatric workers.

3.4 Reflect the new achievements of the discipline of neuropsychiatry in China, and promote the development of the discipline: This journal is the first professional advanced academic journal in China, shouldering the heavy responsibility of reflecting the advanced level of our profession. After the founding of People's Republic of China (PRC), the neuropsychiatric workers in our country were in high spirits and carried out more and more scientific research work, and their research results were submitted to this journal in large quantities. Our journal has always tried to publish in time on the basis of strict examination, especially after the scientific conference of 1980, which ushered in the spring of science, research reports emerged rapidly, and many advanced diagnostic methods and new technologies were applied, such as ct scanning, digital subtraction, magnetic resonance imaging and so on. Research on cell biology and molecular biology, application of genetic engineering techniques such as gene location, gene diagnosis and gene therapy, neurochemistry and pharmacokinetics of psychotropic drugs; Establishment of animal models of experimental cerebrovascular disease, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease and schizophrenia: nerve tissue transplantation, such as pituitary transplantation, fetal brain transplantation, adrenal brain transplantation, etc. Epidemiological investigation report on various common neuropsychiatric diseases; The spread of many new achievements has promoted the rapid development of this discipline.

3.5 Promote the training of clinical doctors' diagnosis and treatment thinking: This journal opened a column of "Clinical Pathology Discussion" shortly after its publication, and published 59 articles successively. Because its content is closely related to readers' daily work, it can inspire readers to think independently from clinical problems and effectively exercise diagnostic thinking. 4. 1 Over the past 40 years, the editorial board and editorial department have worked hard to implement the Party's health policy, adhered to the policy of letting a hundred flowers blossom and a hundred schools of thought contend, and adhered to the policy of combining theory with practice, improving and popularizing, and paying attention to improving, serving the development of socialist construction, and have made achievements and accumulated valuable experience.

4.2 Give full play to the role of the editorial board and reviewers, and do a good job in reviewing and assembling manuscripts: both the editorial board and reviewers of this journal are well-known experts with high academic level in the field of neuropsychiatry in China, and they are leaders in all parts of this discipline. They can strictly screen and check in reviewing manuscripts and soliciting contributions, provide appropriate and powerful clues for soliciting contributions, and promote the quality of magazines. Especially in the early days of publication, the editorial board of the older generation sacrificed a lot of personal rest time to review and revise manuscripts for this magazine, and often went to Beijing to participate in the editorial board on Sunday or evening. Whether it's windy or rainy, it's hot or cold, they all attend on time and discuss every manuscript seriously. It is the fundamental guarantee to run the magazine well to continue to play the role of such an authoritative professional editorial team with selfless dedication.

4.3 Fully reflect the new achievements and new trends of neuropsychiatric research at home and abroad: This journal will always give priority to reflecting the new achievements and new trends of neuropsychiatric research at home and abroad. Through good overall design and guidance, professionals can gain new knowledge, broaden their horizons, improve their medical level and scientific research level, and then promote the development of neuropsychiatric undertakings in China.

4.4 Fully report the contents of academic conferences and expand their social benefits: Neuropsychiatry Branch of Chinese Medical Association and its later 14 research group held academic conferences every few years in their early years, and always held 2-3 professional academic conferences or seminars every year in their later years. And discuss related important issues. Professional academic seminar is an academic seminar organized for important issues of common concern to all parties concerned in this major. In addition to public essays, special reports and summary reports are also invited according to the theme. Before the end of these meetings, the leading group of the meeting always summarizes the main achievements, academic debates, opinions that have reached consensus and opinions with different understandings, and points out the topics that should be discussed in the future. In order to give full play to the benefits of academic conferences, this journal not only selects important representative papers, but also organizes relevant experts to write conference minutes. Meeting minutes require no rhetoric and empty words, and the key issues involved in the meeting should be fully reflected on the basis of the meeting summary report. Minutes should be read by readers who didn't attend the meeting and feel really rewarding, just like attending the meeting. The important papers, meeting minutes, summaries and summaries of these academic conferences form a key number or atlas, so that readers can fully understand the contents of the conference and benefit from it.

4.5 Organize symposiums and key figures in a planned way: Holding symposiums is an important form of soliciting contributions. The topic is determined by the editorial board when making the editorial plan for the next year. Select the issues that need to be discussed urgently at present, and put forward the list of central news spokespersons, specially invited reporters and experts or units to be invited to participate in the discussion. For some multidisciplinary problems, you can invite multidisciplinary experts to participate in the discussion. Generally, a symposium with a scale of 50 ~ 100 people is the best. The discussion scope is clear, and the number is small, but they are all experts, so that they can speak freely, express their opinions, fully exchange arguments and reach in-depth discussion. After the meeting, the contents of the discussion will be sorted out and published in a summary form that fully reflects the contents of the meeting, so that readers can increase their knowledge, broaden their thinking, improve their understanding and diagnosis and treatment, and promote the in-depth research. At the same time, select some relevant research reports and reviews, invite experts with rich experience in this subject to write one or two guiding reviews, put forward their own views on related issues, point out the direction, and publish these articles in a centralized way, forming a very popular key number.

4.6 Strengthen the relationship among readers, authors and editors: This magazine published notices twice in 1992 and 1993 to solicit readers' opinions on this magazine, and many readers and authors put forward suggestions, criticisms and hopes on the problems existing in this magazine. These opinions are expensive. We have repeatedly studied the countermeasures and seriously improved the implementation, which is of great benefit to the improvement of magazine quality and efficiency. In the future, we will further strengthen our contact with readers and authors. In addition to soliciting readers' opinions from time to time, we will also collect readers' demands, hopes, criticisms and suggestions through editorial boards, symposiums and other forms to improve magazine work in time.

4.6 1 Due to the close cooperation of authors, readers and editors. After the revision of China Journal of Neuropsychiatry from 1978, the editing work is standardized and scientific. The director, editor-in-chief and editorial director of the magazine carefully check and publish every manuscript. According to incomplete statistics, among the 1379 papers published by this journal since 1978,1won the national, ministerial and military science and technology awards, 58 won the science and technology awards of provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government, and 3 1 won the excellent paper award (.

4.7 Deal with the relationship between neurology and psychiatry: Since the publication of this journal, the manuscripts of the two disciplines have been basically coordinated and edited according to the ratio of 1: 1, and the phenomenon that psychiatric manuscripts 1990 are less than once has been corrected. Nevertheless, due to the rapid development of neurology and psychiatry in recent years, the team has been growing. There are specialists in county hospitals and tens of thousands of professional medical workers in both departments. The number of manuscripts has increased year by year, and the backlog of manuscripts has become increasingly serious. Although measures such as increasing the number of pages, publishing supplements and changing some works into abstracts have been taken to alleviate the situation, it still takes a long time to press the manuscript. These works will be further strengthened in the future and will be published in 1 year. In view of the fact that the Neuropsychiatry Branch of the Chinese Medical Association was divided into two societies on 1994, and the Neurology Branch of the Chinese Medical Association and the Psychiatry Branch of the Chinese Medical Association were established respectively, the journal's division into Chinese Journal of Neurology and Chinese Journal of Psychiatry has been put on the agenda and is expected to be realized on 1996.
