What is sports medicine?

Sports medicine is a comprehensive applied science which combines medicine and sports. Study the medical problems related to sports, and use medical knowledge and technology to provide medical supervision and guidance to sports participants, so as to achieve the purpose of preventing injuries, ensuring athletes' health, enhancing physical fitness and improving sports performance.

As a complete, independent and theoretical discipline, sports medicine was formally established in AD 1930. The recovery of the Olympic Games and the progress of medicine and sports physiology have promoted the development of sports medicine.

1928 international sports medicine Federation was established. Since 1950s, sports medicine has developed rapidly. Some European and American countries have established many sports medicine centers and sports medicine research institutes. Many universities have also carried out clinical work and scientific research on sports medicine, and some universities have also carried out teaching work.
