The word "civilization" in Chinese comes from the Book of Changes, which says, "Seeing the dragon in the field, the world is civilized." ("dry a classical Chinese"). In modern Chinese, civilization refers to a state of social progress, as opposed to the word "barbarism". Civilization and culture have similar meanings, but there are also differences. Culture refers to a way of existence. Having culture means a certain civilization, but having no culture does not mean being "barbaric". Chinese civilization requires higher behavior, followed by knowledge and technology.
Before the germination of philosophy, religion and art, there was no history of civilization, only barbarism and primitive tribal history.
The word "civilization" in English comes from Latin, which means urban residents. Its essential meaning is people's ability to live in cities and social groups. After extension, it refers to an advanced social and cultural development state and the process of reaching this state, involving a wide range of fields, including national consciousness, technical level, etiquette norms, religious thoughts, customs and habits, and the development of scientific knowledge. /kloc-before the 0/9th century, the definition of civilization in the west was narrow, and it was considered that advanced production methods and rich knowledge represented civilization, while low production capacity and manners did not conform to the western definition, which was barbarism. Therefore, when invading Africa and America, it is always defined as the victory of civilization over barbarism, but we don't realize that our actions are actually barbarism. It is only in the modern west that we gradually realize that this definition of civilization is wrong.
Civilization is a collection of all social and natural behaviors that make human beings free from barbarism. These collections at least include the following elements: family concept, tools, language, writing, faith, religious concept, law, city-state and country.
Due to the uneven distribution of various civilization elements in time and region, various civilizations with obvious differences have emerged. Specifically, in modern times, there have been four civilizations, namely, Western civilization, Arab civilization, Oriental civilization and Indian civilization, as well as Russian civilization, Turkish civilization, marine civilization and Southeast Asian civilization, which were formed by the cross-integration of various civilizations and reflected a unique sub-civilization in a certain civilization element.
