Physical education is one of the 88 first-class disciplines established in China, and it is an important part of the higher education system. Physical education plays an increasingly important role in social life and human development. Therefore, the discipline construction of physical education is one of the important supporting factors for the construction and development of universities and an organic part of the discipline construction of universities. Since the founding of New China, especially since the reform and opening up, the construction of physical education discipline in China has entered a stage of rapid development. In terms of personnel training, by the end of 2005, there were 159 authorized points for master's degree in physical education, distributed in 74 universities and scientific research institutions across the country, and there were 19 authorized units for doctoral degrees in two disciplines, including 8 institutes of physical education, 4 comprehensive universities, 7 physical education departments of normal universities, and 650 Beijing Sport University, Shanghai Sport University and South China Normal University. It is mainly manifested in the narrow research direction of some disciplines, the lack of advantages and characteristics, and the slow development of emerging disciplines, especially interdisciplinary disciplines, which are suitable for local economic and social development. Third, the discipline team needs to be further optimized. Mainly manifested in the lack of influential high-level academic leaders in China; The echelon structure of some academic talents is not reasonable enough; Insufficient young teachers with high academic qualifications and high level; The scientific research quality of young teachers needs to be improved; Scientific researchers have a heavy teaching task, and the frequency and breadth of academic exchanges need to be further strengthened.
