I've brushed my teeth all my life. How can I not brush my teeth? Patients with tooth decay or periodontal disease often lose their teeth in dental clinics, and they don't agree with the correct cleaning methods taught by dentists. Dentists say that although most people know to pay attention to oral hygiene, few people have the correct concept and do it thoroughly. The following tips for tooth care have corrected people's common misconceptions about tooth cleaning, which are quite practical and worthy of reference.
1. Improved Bayesian Brushing Method When many people brush their teeth, they put the toothbrush in their mouth, brush it up and down, and then rinse off the foam with clean water, and you're done. Even handsome men and beautiful women often use this brush method in idol dramas. In fact, it is easy to wear the tooth surface with a toothbrush, and it can't completely remove the dead angle of hiding evil and accommodating evil. At present, the international dental community recommends "improved Bayesian brushing method". The key point is that when brushing teeth, the bristles are at an angle of 45 ~ 60 degrees with the tooth surface (the bristles are slightly upward when brushing the upper teeth, and slightly downward when brushing the lower teeth), covering a part of the gums, and gently brushing back and forth horizontally, at least 60 degrees each time. It takes about 10 minutes to brush a tooth clean and smooth.
2. Choosing the right toothbrush is very useful. Toothbrush should choose a small brush head with straight and soft bristles, so that it can rotate in the mouth, remove tartar and not hurt teeth and gums. It is best to put the toothbrush in a dry and ventilated place to avoid mold breeding. After using for a period of time, if the bristles are bent, bifurcated or fall off, or the bottom is stuck with vegetable scraps and dirt, they should be replaced immediately.
3. Sensitive teeth can be assisted by toothpaste. People in dentine hypersensitivity often brush their teeth casually for fear of toothache. Long-term tooth washing is not thorough, which is easy to aggravate tooth damage. If such patients can use anti-sensitive toothpaste, it will help to implement oral cleaning and improve symptoms. There are two main types of anti-allergic toothpaste. One is to add potassium citrate or potassium nitrate to prevent the conduction between nerve cells and reduce the tingling sensation of sensitive teeth. One is to add strontium chloride or strontium fluoride, which can block the small cracks in enamel, make the exposed dentinal tubules smaller, and avoid nerve pain caused by cold and hot exposure.
4. Avoid brushing your teeth with tooth powder or coarse salt. Some people don't want to use toothpaste containing chemical ingredients, and some people clean their teeth with tooth powder in order to whiten their teeth. Dentists reminded that both of these items contain coarse particles, which can be rubbed on the toothbrush to clean the tooth surface. However, if the force is not properly grasped, it is easy to wear the enamel on the tooth surface and damage the health of the gums, so it is not recommended.
5. Make good use of interdental brush and dental floss. In addition to brushing your teeth with a toothbrush, the adjacent surfaces and gaps between teeth should also be thoroughly cleaned with dental floss or interdental brush. When using dental floss, the length is about 40 ~ 50 cm, which is controlled by the thumb and forefinger of both hands. First, gently pull both ends of dental floss and slide it into the teeth until the gingival sulcus is adjacent to the teeth. Use a "C"-shaped broach to scrape off dental plaque along the teeth, and clean the left and right sides of the teeth. However, when using dental floss sticks or toothpicks, due to the limitation of materials and applicable angles, the effect of scraping dental plaque is far less than that of dental floss, so it is generally recommended to use dental floss to assist in tooth cleaning. As for the interdental brush, it is suitable for teeth with obvious gaps, the lower end of restorations or dents in correction. It can clean the parts that are difficult to be brushed by ordinary toothbrushes, and it is one of the important auxiliary cleaning tools for patients with periodontal disease.
6. Clean your teeth thoroughly at least once a day 1 time. Brushing your teeth immediately after eating food or sugary drinks is the most ideal way to maintain oral hygiene. If it is impossible, it is absolutely necessary to clean your teeth thoroughly at least 1 time every day. Studies have shown that dental plaque grows on the unclean tooth surface, and after being removed, it can accumulate again within 24 ~ 48 hours and gradually calcify. Therefore, if you can brush your teeth at least 1 ~ 2 times a day, you can effectively block the accumulation of dental plaque and avoid lasting harm to dental health.
7. Brush your tongue lightly to deodorize and remove spots. The coating on your tongue can easily get stuck in tiny food scraps, so it often becomes a hotbed of bacteria. Brush your tongue lightly when brushing your teeth every day, which can not only reduce the formation of dental plaque, but also reduce the situation of bad breath.
8. mouthwash and chewing sugar-free gum can't replace brushing your teeth. The mouthwash on the market is nothing more than antibacterial, fluorine-containing or fresh breath. It is suitable for the elderly, people with physical and mental disabilities or patients who are temporarily inconvenient to brush their teeth after surgery, and people who want to have a good breath when going out on a date. Sugar-free chewing gum uses sugar instead of sucrose. In addition, people will secrete saliva when chewing, which will help to wash away some food residues, and the pH value of the mouth will also change into a neutral environment that is not conducive to dental plaque growth. Therefore, it is helpful to prevent dental caries. However, chewing sugar-free chewing gum and mouthwash water can not completely remove the accumulated dental plaque in the mouth, so they can only be used as an auxiliary means of oral cleaning, and can not completely replace brushing and flossing.
9. The combination of main and auxiliary meals reduces the number of meals. Plaque formed by bacteria mixed with food residue and saliva will change the originally neutral oral environment into acidic environment, leading to decalcification of tooth surface. It is not until the pH value in the mouth changes after brushing that the teeth will turn into the restoration period of recalcification. Therefore, if you eat regularly and eat sweet cakes every day, your teeth will be exposed to decalcified environment for a long time, which may accelerate the disintegration of enamel and form tooth decay. Therefore, people who like desserts may wish to arrange snacks to eat together before or after meals to reduce the number of meals every day.
10. Eating less sweets and foods with excessive acidity, and foods with high sugar content and easy to stick to teeth, such as candy, chocolate, cakes, biscuits, potato chips, soda or cola, ice cream and other foods, are easy to promote the formation of dental plaque. Eat as little as possible at ordinary times and brush your teeth immediately after eating. Too sour drinks, such as vinegar or lemon juice, are easy to cause enamel to fall off, and even hurt dentin and pulp in severe cases. It is best not to drink them often.
1 1. Eat more fresh and high-fiber fruits and vegetables rich in fiber, such as root food, vegetables and fruits. It will help to remove the residual dental plaque and food residue between teeth during chewing and achieve the effect of cleaning teeth. Fresh milk is rich in calcium phosphate needed for tooth recalcification, and should also be eaten in moderation. In addition, adequate water intake helps to dilute food residues in the mouth and reduce the chance of plaque accumulation.
12. Professional tooth washing every six months 1 time and correct brushing every day can avoid the accumulation of dental plaque and prevent the formation of dental calculus. However, some tooth parts may be prone to dental calculus due to angle problems, so it is necessary to go to the dentist for professional tooth cleaning to remove dental calculus. At present, health insurance provides 1 tooth cleaning service for people over 3 years old every six months. After the calculus is removed, the teeth may be sensitive to cold or acid for a short time, but usually they can get better naturally after a period of time. After dental calculus is removed, it can avoid persistent inflammation of gingiva and make gingiva and periodontal tissue healthier.
13. Dental implants and dentures should prevent dental plaque. Whether it is artificial dental implant, bridge or complete denture, if dental plaque is allowed to grow in the mouth without maintaining good oral hygiene, bacteria will still invade between the root and alveolar bone, causing gingivitis or periodontal disease. In severe cases, even dental implants will shake and need to be pulled out. Therefore, even for people with complete dentures, it is very important to maintain oral hygiene.
14. Whole oral fluoride is used to prevent decay of deciduous teeth. Although children's deciduous teeth will be replaced by permanent teeth with growth and development, tooth decay from childhood will affect chewing function, nutrient intake and pronunciation. According to the survey, the caries rate of primary teeth of preschool children in Taiwan Province Province is as high as 5 1.5, so it is relatively difficult to teach children to brush their teeth correctly. Therefore, health units and dentists are actively promoting children to receive oral fluoride once every six months. It is generally recommended to continue until the child's second molar fully grows out, which can reduce the caries rate of deciduous teeth by about 30 ~ 40.
15. Regular oral examination can find oral diseases and receive necessary corrective treatment as soon as possible. Generally speaking, infants and school-age children should have an oral examination every three to six months because their teeth are in the stage of eruption or tooth replacement, while adolescents and adults should have an oral examination and tooth cleaning at least every six months to 1 year. The main points of the oral examination at each stage are as follows:
Infants under 6 years old: At this stage, parents or adult caregivers must be responsible for brushing their children's teeth, and children should not be allowed to clean themselves. Dentists will pay special attention to whether children have bottle-shaped dental caries, whether the facial and occlusal development is normal, and guide parents to stop their children from biting their fingers and other bad oral habits, so as not to affect the eruption of teeth.
School-age children aged 6 ~ 13: check oral hygiene habits, deciduous teeth replacement, dental caries, facial development, malocclusion, and gums.
13- 18 Puberty: Most teeth have been replaced by permanent teeth. Check whether there is malocclusion or malocclusion, dental caries and young periodontal disease, and correct them as soon as possible.
Adults: check periodontal disease, dental caries, tooth loss, denture use and oral mucosal abnormalities or lumps.
Old people: check for periodontal disease, missing teeth, denture use, abnormal oral mucosa or tumor, root caries, etc.
