Is the Wa State Army a righteous army?
The Wa State Army (WSA) is a righteous army. At the beginning of the war, the government army came from a long distance and it was the rainy season, so it did not occupy the right place and time, and it was defeated by Khun Sa in several battles, and Khun Sa took the opportunity to seize more territory. With the victory of several wars, Khun Sa completely swelled up, intending to flatten the armed forces of the Southern Wa in one fell swoop. This move made the Burmese government army and the United Wa State Army (UWSA) and the forces of the Southern Wa militia to come together completely, and at this time, the forces of the United Wa State Army (UWSA) of the North Wa have been well developed. With the joining of the United Wa State Army (UWSA) of the North Wa, after a few arduous battles, the UWSA eventually defeated Khun Sa's Montagnard army in the battle of Mon Nguyen. Faced with the retreating scene, Khun Sa formally surrendered to the Burmese government forces in 1996. After Khun Sa's surrender, the territory of the Wa region of Khun Sa was occupied by the Wa State Army, while the Burmese government army, according to a prior agreement, also handed over part of the area near the edge of the Golden Triangle to the Wa State Army. In 1999, hundreds of thousands of Wa residents moved southward and some of the military bases of the United Wa State Army (UWSA) also moved southward. As a result, the pattern of North and South Wa has been completely formed, echoing each other, and the armed forces of the UWSA have become the largest armed forces in the northern region of Myanmar, with their power far exceeding that of the neighboring Kokang and other regions.
