In 2007, Hubei's first artistic talent "River Flower Cup" competition, a simple, inward-looking, not good at talking about the young female flutist won the competition gold medal, stood on the highest podium, she is the Hubei Symphony Orchestra Yulin young female flutist Guo Xiaoyan.
Recently, Guo Xiaoyan returned to her hometown to save her family, and was warmly received by Mr. Chen Shuyun at the Garden Hotel, who has always had a close relationship with people in the arts and sports industry, and I was invited to be among them, and I was honored to meet and listen to Guo Xiaoyan's exquisite flute, during which she improvised a piece of "Liang Shanbo and Zhuyingtai," which had a mellifluous break-dance sound. The sound was warm and gentle but not pretentious, deep but not ostentatious, delicate but not flashy, which gave people a sense of intoxication after a few cups of wine. Her deep playing, elegant temperament, every single trace of it makes people feel that she is serious about music, persistent and devoted, her fingertips rise and fall on the keys, every touch of the keys, every breath, every note, every phrase, and every long tone are all very beautiful, and the notes coming out of her hands can be said to be very refreshing to the heart.
Tossed around Nanning, looking for teachers to learn
In 1976, Guo Xiaoyan was born in Yulin City, Guangxi, a simple family of ordinary workers, her mother could sing and dance, and her father liked to play and sing, and it was in this family culture, the young Xiaoyan was also filled with a love of music, began to learn the violin at the age of six, and then a teacher found that Xiaoyan's mouth was very beautiful, and that she had the ability to learn the violin. Later, a teacher found that Xiaoyan's lips and mouth shape were very suitable for playing the flute and bamboo flute, and if she was taught by a famous teacher, she would be successful in the future. So at the age of 8, Xiaoyan switched to flute, and under the guidance of a friend, her father took Xiaoyan straight to Nanning, where she passed around many friends and contacted Wang Xiping, a flute professor at the Guangxi Arts Institute, through various channels. Since Mr. Wang was busy with his daily work and had many students, he was hesitant to accept Xiaoyan as his disciple. Because it is not easy to train a young student to become a mature flute player, but Xiaoyan's enthusiasm for learning the flute impressed Mr. Wang Xiping. She eventually became Mr. Wang Xiping's student. Since then, Xiaoyan has been traveling between Yulin and Nanning after school and during the summer and winter vacations, learning the flute on the go, and it can be said that her father's monthly salary is basically invested in her learning the flute. From fingering training, long tone practice, legato practice, spitting practice, and so on, she practiced for more than two years. Speaking of her childhood experience, Guo Xiaoyan's words are filled with her love for the flute and her gratitude to her mentor, Mr. Wang Xiping, and her parents.
After several years of hard practice, in 1987, at the age of 11, Guo Xiaoyan was admitted to the Guangxi Academy of Fine Arts, where she studied under her mentor, Mr. Wang Xiping. In her opinion, it was Mr. Wang Xiping who brought her into the door of flute art, laid a solid foundation for her, and also provided her with a forward. He provided her with a solid foundation and at the same time provided her with the motivation and direction to move forward. Mr. Wang Xiping's requirements for her in the basics of flute playing were very strict and rigorous. As her studies deepened, when it came to understanding the emotions of the instrument, Mr. Wang's teaching style became very open, allowing her to think and understand on her own, rather than telling her what to express in a certain piece of music and how to express it, and this kind of education has brought great help to her in improving her flute playing. In addition, Mr. Wang Xiping treated Xiaoyan like his own child, because her parents were not around, he often left Xiaoyan at home to watch her practicing the flute, and at the same time teaching her flute art, he also taught her to be a person and the principles of life, so it can be said that he paid a lot of effort to the growth of Xiaoyan. In the eight years under the attentive guidance of Mr. Wang, Xiaoyan received a systematic, formal and rigorous flute training, and laid a solid foundation of the basic methodology and skills. She has built a solid foundation in basic methods and skills. Diligent learning, enterprising Xiaoyan used three years to complete the six-year course in the attached middle school, in the attached high school began to systematically study the university curriculum. In the accumulation of technology and the background at the same time, ahead of the excavation of their own potential.
Heart on the flute, hard work
In 1993, Guo Xiaoyan entered the Wuhan Conservatory of Music as an undergraduate flute player in the Department of Orchestral Studies, under the tutelage of flutist Professor Xu Ge. Mr. Xu Ge combined Xiaoyan's personal conditions and levels, and taught her according to her ability, giving full play to her strengths and instructing her on technique, consolidating and reinforcing her fundamentals, as well as carrying out a series of training and enhancement of her deficiencies, allowing students to work on the emotion of the piece, and focusing on the development of each student's individuality, Mr. Xu Ge's innovative teaching ideas and conscientious, meticulous and rigorous teaching attitude has greatly benefited Xiaoyan.
This is the first time I've seen a student in a school.
Xiaoyan is a very diligent and hard-working person in her studies. During the period of learning the flute art with Xu Ge, she was very strict with her study requirements, and she always motivated herself with the motto of "the sharpness of the sword comes from sharpening, and the fragrance of the plum blossom comes from the bitter cold", and she would often come to the school's lake at the beginning of the day when her classmates are still asleep and practice her flute until she reached her mouthpiece. He practiced the flute until his lips were numb and his mouth was sore. In addition to studying the art of flute, she insists on learning various cultural knowledge and art theory courses. Quer Yan believes that playing the flute is not just a matter of learning the skills of playing the flute, but also the inner cultural cultivation of the flute, which helps to better understand and deal with the music.
In addition, she actively participates in various music practice activities inside and outside the campus, taking part in rehearsals and performances of symphonies, chamber music, and repertoire ensembles, etc. She constantly polishes herself through various music activities, and on the other hand, enriches herself through stage practice, looking for opportunities to exercise and grow for herself. Guo Xiaoyan's pursuit of artistic excellence is a reflection of her heart and hands, and the unity of the flute and the human being. Her heart is only on the flute, with no distractions, and it is in this simple metal pipe that she plays her own artistic life, and in the specialty of flute, she gallops through her unique ideal of life. Music, humanities, encyclopedias, a wide range of subjects, perseverance, because the philosophy of "work beyond the poem" has been y imprinted in her heart. Her teachers, classmates and friends have commented on her dedication to music - her heart is on the flute because she fears art and is devoted to it; her heart is on the flute because she acts in a low profile and does things in a high profile. Because of her outstanding professional achievements, she has been honored as an outstanding student and a member of the group by the college every year, and has been awarded a full scholarship by the Conservatory of Music. During her junior year, she was assigned by the school to teach flute in the middle school. Behind the achievements is her silent hard work and dedication.
