Hulunbeier College was founded in 1958 Hulunbeier University. 1959 merged with the "Teachers' College Class" temporarily established by Zhalantun Normal School to form Hulunbeier Normal College. 1997 the former state education commission approved the merger of four schools to form Hulunbeier college at the junior college level.
