Introduction of Yi people's cigarette box dance

Shiping Yi people's cigarette box dance, also known as jumping strings and ridging, is a mass folk dance of Nisupo, a branch of Yunnan Yi people. The Yi inhabited areas, which spread in Gejiu, Shiping, Jianshui, Mengzi, Kaiyuan, Tonghai, Yuanjiang and other places in southern Yunnan, matured in Yuan and Ming Dynasties and reached its peak in Qing Dynasty and Republic of China. . When dancing, it is named because each person takes a bamboo or kapok locust cigarette box in each hand and dances. Yi people also call cigarette box dance as string jumping, music jumping and three-step string jumping. Yi people love cigarette box dance very much, both children and the elderly love to dance. People say that when you hear the four strings ring, your feet itch. On May 2th, 26, the Yi people's cigarette box dance was approved by the State Council to be included in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage list.
