Why don't Indian dancers wear shoes?
In ancient India, it was too hot to kill animals. It is difficult to make shoes with any materials and keep them for a long time, so most people don't wear shoes. Indian dance originated from religious ceremonies, and every movement of hands and feet contains religious significance, which is an important manifestation of communication with God. Therefore, most Hindu believers who don't wear shoes in traditional Indian dance think that it is not necessary to wear shoes. Even if there is, it is as simple, convenient and economical as dragging a pair of flip-flops. In the eyes of foreign tourists, this is a sign that Indians are not rich. Although this view is not unreasonable, it is not entirely true. Hindu believers often go to the temple to offer flowers to worship the gods, take off their shoes at the door, and everyone goes barefoot to abide by this custom of worshipping the gods handed down from generation to generation. Not wearing shoes or just wearing simple pointed slippers naturally reduces a lot of trouble. In India, the advantage of walking barefoot is that there are puddles on the road, so you don't have to detour, just walk directly. India has many dirt roads and is dusty, so you don't need to brush your shoes after going home or before going out. More importantly, most Indians don't compare their shoes with others, or compare them with pride or depression. Barefoot Indian women often paint bright colors on their toenails, draw flowers and plants on their feet, hang gold bracelets and silver chains on their ankles, and wear red and green saris. Its beautiful toenails, anklets, toe rings and Hannah's paintings are looming under the swaying sari, which constitutes a striking exotic scenery on the streets of India.
