When Taiwan's recording industry was facing the biggest crisis in its history, Lui Shih-Yu, a veteran record producer who had made brilliant achievements and set the trend in Taiwan's recording history, led his team to replace the new blood in the recording industry, and created the new H.I.R.E. International Music Co. Ltd. (H.I.M.). The company is attempting to recreate the miracle of Taiwan's record industry.
S.H.E's girlfriend is the first shot of H.I.M.'s popularity. Representing gentleness, courage, and self-confidence, Selina, Hebe, and Ella, according to their e-generation's jumping mode of thinking and nonsensical logic, they are able to play out their personal charms with the most natural and purest personal traits, regardless of whether their voices or their personalities are on display. The most S.H.E. side of the band is presented in the most natural and purest personal qualities.
After the successes of A-Mei, Jolin Tsai, and Jay Chou, singing contests have become the best way for record labels to select new artists. In Taiwan's CTV ratings-guaranteed "TV Grand National", there is a highly topical unit in which contestants come out to sing a song of their choice, no matter if you are nervous, have a cold, or haven't slept well, as long as the judges don't like the sound of the song, they will press the light, and they will be out if there are three lights, which is a "brutal stage". In August 2000, Hwa-Yin International organized the "Universe 2000 Powerful Beauty Girl Battle" with "TV Big Nation" to reserve new talents. Thousands of young girls who love to sing stood on the stage and were then eliminated, which was cruel to death. In the end, they beat the competition and finally came out with three singers with great vocal range. Finally, the three different ranges and personalities of the beauty warriors - Ren Jiaxuan, Tian Fuzhen, and Chen Jiahua - have come out on top.
S.H.E. is a combination of the first letters of the English names Selina, Hebe and Ella, which is exactly the same as the English word for "SHE". They are gifted with good voices and unique personal styles, which is their greatest weapon. In the secret training, S.H.E. came from different places, and when they first got along, they could be described as having nothing to say, which made the record company start to worry. So in order to increase their sense of community, the three of them were placed in a dormitory with only one room, so as to cultivate a tacit understanding with each other and to increase their unity. So after a year of training before their debut and three months in a dormitory, S.H.E. has developed a sisterly bond with each other.
S.H.E.'s debut album, "Girls' Dormitory," features a collection of dozens of musicians, including Power Train, Yao Jian, and Cai Jianya, etc. The album presents a diverse range of styles, including R&B, as well as the popular parapara dance music style. The title track, "Lovers Not Yet", is an R&B style song, originally from the Destiny Child album, with lyrics by Shi Ren Cheng, who wrote the lyrics for Liu Ruoying's "Love You" and "Later". Because the original singer is the most popular R&B trio in the US, S.H.E was nervous about covering their song, fearing that their performance would not be good enough. After seeing the lyrics and the staff explaining that the direction of the lyrics is different from the original song, they felt more at ease. The lyrics of the original song are more mature, while "The Lovers Are Not Yet Full" describes the anticipation of love and the sweetness of being in love, which is very much in line with S.H.E's age.
The inspiration for the song "Lovers" came from the Japanese phrase "友達以上，恋人未满", which means that the relationship between two people is more than just friends, but less than a lover's awkwardness, and the lyrics delicately convey a girl's longing for and expectation of love during this awkward period, and also speak of the inner conflict of a half-mature girl. Producer Huang Yi did not emphasize on the technique and the strong R&B flavor of the original song, he hoped that S.H.E sing their own feelings, the important thing is to express that half-sweet, half-bitter emotions, so that the "Lovers are not yet full" belongs to the S.H.E flavor. In order to let everyone notice S.H.E's voice, the record company also made a large sum of money to produce a mysterious version of the Music Video in the media power release, in the heated discussion and many speculations, the 3 little girls told everyone: "We are 19 years old, we're not ugly, we like to sing, and we want to make friends with you." And producer Huang Yi even said confidently, "S.H.E is the most singable girl group in the Taiwanese record market, and their voices are worth waiting for!" S.H.E.
