Ansei Waist Drum is a traditional folk dance of Ansei District, Yan'an City, Shaanxi Province. The Ansei Waist Drum can be performed by several people or thousands of people together, and the majestic momentum and superb expressiveness are so mesmerizing that it is known as the No. 1 drum in the world.
In 1996, Ansai District, Yan'an City, was named the hometown of waist drums in China by the Ministry of Culture of the People's Republic of China.
On May 20, 2006, Ansai Waist Drums were approved by the State Council to be included in the list of the first batch of national intangible cultural heritages.

Ansei Waist Drums have a complete program of performances and activity customs. In the past, it was mostly performed in festivals and temple fairs, and the annual Spring Festival to the Lantern Festival is the time for concentrated activities.
