Aquatic ballet, also known as "synchronized swimming", originated in Europe, is an artistic and elegant sports. 

The female athletes in brightly colored swimsuits, like the Fairy of the Waves, accompanied by bright music, sometimes in the water, sometimes on the water surface, dancing, constituting a beautiful pattern, modeling ...... is known as the "water ballet" of the synchronized swimming.  Synchronized swimming, also known as "artistic swimming", is a kind of swimming in the water to do a variety of beautiful swimming action sports.  The length and width of the pool used for synchronized swimming is 12 meters, and the depth of the water is 3 meters. The competition starts on land or in the water. It ends in the water and lasts for 5 minutes. Major competitions are the Olympic Games synchronized swimming race, World Swimming Championships synchronized swimming race. 

Synchronized swimming originated in Germany, Britain and other European countries in the 1920s, and later spread to Canada and the United States. Originally only perform some water action, and no musical accompaniment, and then gradually developed into the present. In recent years, this sport has also been carried out in China, and the first synchronized swimming championships were held in August 1984 in Beijing. Since 1984, synchronized swimming has been listed as an official event in the Olympic Games. According to the regulations of the International Swimming Federation, synchronized swimming is restricted to women only, and is divided into three categories: single, double and team (4-8 persons), with two parts: optional movements and prescribed movements. The scoring method is similar to gymnastics, by the judges according to the action modeling, action articulation, action difficulty coefficient, music, costume design and performance of physical appearance and other standard scoring.
