The original singer of "Painted Heart" is Zhang Liangying.
The song is derived from Fujiwara Yukuro's 2003 release of the purely musical piece "Asian Road", with Chinese lyrics filled in by Shaoqi Chen and performed by the Moscow Symphony Orchestra.
When the song was written, producer Shaoqi Chen did not intend to include a vocal chant in the opening section, while Zhang thought that adding this vocal chant would make the whole song's expression more complete, and thus through discussion it was eventually retained. Although the entire recording process of the song went smoothly, the post-production took a lot of time.
During that time, Zhang Liangying and producer Chen Shaoqi exchanged opinions through nearly 100 email exchanges. Since the two felt the same way about the songs, the whole collaboration process was smooth and enjoyable.
