It's exploding all over the Internet, but there are some stories that need to be whispered

This summer, the band was on fire.

Basically, there's always a new way to brush up every week.

Nine in a Row for real people.

New Boy.

After Hedgehog sang "Train to the Clouds, Dreams Rest in the Nine Heavens," the lyrics became hit gold: "A generation will eventually grow old, but there's always someone who's young."

Yes.

Whether you're a fan of music or not, and whether you watch Variety or not, you must have picked up the sound coming from it from various sources -

The Summer of the Band.

The rating went up from 7.4 in the opening episode to 8.4.

One doesn't have to have listened to hundreds of albums, or be familiar with the origins of Chinese rock bands, an average rock buff can follow the show.

Dry up.

Rock, "out of the loop".

It's gone from the underground to the stage.

From the fringe, to the mainstream.

From a small circle of subculture, it has become the popular culture of the masses.

Even if it's questioned whether it's still "real rock", Summer of the Band did at least two things -

it brought more people into contact with rock, and it made it more possible for bands to make a living.

But.

How did the band get to its "summer"?

It's been through a lot more than what's presented on the variety stage.

Today we're talking about three movies.

None of the ratings are great -

7.1 for "Peking Music and Road," 6.8 for "Blue Bones," and 6.6 for "Sewing Machine Band.

But we may be able to find a footnote of Chinese rock in it.

They correspond to three words:

Hidden pain, hiding and dissolution.

Beijing Music and the Road

A rock movie that has been widely criticized by rock fans as "not understanding rock".

It's more like a curious peek into the Beijing rock scene from a tourist's point of view -

Michael (Daniel Wu), a 27-year-old Hong Kong boy, befriends Pinglu (Geng Le), a newcomer to the rock scene who grew up in Beijing, and Yang Ying (Shu Qi), a dancer.

He breaks in, gets involved, falls in love, gets hurt, and finally leaves ......

The title of the movie is very Hong Kong, and "Joy and Fury" is a Cantonese alias for Rock N' Roll, which is more of an expression of anger. The title of the movie is very Hong Kong, "Rock N' Roll" is an alias of Rock N' Roll in Cantonese, and it was later changed to "Road" because "怒" is a more forbidden word.

In the movie, you see a lot of symbols that have nothing to do with rock 'n' roll, but with the tourist mentality -

pigeon whistles, courtyard houses, erguotou, doughnuts, bean juice ......

and the familiar Chang'an Street.

I can see that the director wanted to see why these young people love and need rock 'n' roll from an outsider's point of view.

The rock band in the movie fits the stereotype of the poor, the loose, the rebellious.

In order to solve their financial problems, the band decides to go out like a fox, enduring their pits and convincing themselves that "there's no such thing as a stinky turd".

The band even cued up real people: Faye Wong, Black Panther and Tang Dynasty were all from the same place.

There's one scene that's even more of a thorn in one's side to watch.

It's the final scene where Pinglu angrily gets up on his motorcycle and goes on a rampage, perishing under the wheels.

Why?

Because the real story behind this scene is a key turning point in the development of Chinese rock bands, and it's a deep, deep pain.

On the night of May 11, 1995, Zhang Torch ended a rehearsal with The Faces (yes, featured in The Band's Summer) and was on his way back to his residence when he was involved in a car accident and died tragically at the Zizhu Bridge on Beijing's West Third Ring Road, at the age of 24 years old.

10 years later in 2005.

An album commemorating the 10th anniversary of Zhang Torch's accident was published - The Gift

The eponymous track, The Gift, gathers together Zhang Chu, Xu Wei, Wang Feng, Zhou Xiaogou, Luan Shu, Ding Wu, Li Yanliang, and Gaoqi*** with the same singing.

Lyrics: "No one in the world understands me, I'm alone. But why are you so lonely?"

Speaking of him in the past.

But also like the rock session.

Ding Wu said, "It's been a lonely decade, and music has given us the strength to stay together."

Zhang Torch, one of the early core members of Tang Dynasty, was a righteous and enthusiastic person who had relationships with the founding fathers of Beijing at the time.

His family's compound was the main venue for Tang Dynasty's activities and rehearsals. Because of his death, Tang Dynasty was on the verge of collapse.

Beijing Music and Road puts the death of Tang Dynasty's Zhang Torch into the plot, which can't be said to be disrespectful to the deceased, but the movie's Ping Lu's behavior seems too hasty and irresponsible.

Zhang Wanting longs to feel their joy, their anger, their pain.

But the misalignment between homage and expression becomes a thorn.

Beyond the death of Zhang Torch, there is another hidden pain in the hearts of Chinese rock fans.

Spoken by one of the most credentialed -

"Blue Bones" ?

The first feature-length film directed by the godfather of Chinese rock, Cui Jian, across the border.

Inspired by the song of the same name from his 2005 album Give You Some Color.

Blue represents the pursuit of freedom and serenity; bone represents stubbornness and persistence.

It can be said that this movie is the history of Cui Jian's growing mind, tracing back to the source of his self-rock creation -

"I'm a spring flower that happens to grow in a spring."

And what about the flowers that didn't bloom in the spring?

The story follows the protagonist, Zhong Hua (Yin Fang?), as she pursues her father's mother's life. ) traces the past of his father and mother.

His father (Zhao Youliang) was an agent handpicked by the organization, and was stoic and brooding;

his mother (Ni Hongjie?) was a member of the Cultural and Industrial Corps.

His mother (Ni Hongjie?) is the flower of the Cultural and Industrial Corps, passionate and exuberant, and one of China's first rock 'n' roll fans (Nutty), and the result, of course, is incompatible with the circumstances of the time.

There are two emotions that move Sir in Blue Bones.

The first is compassion.

In the movie, the mother, overwhelmed by the pain of the lies, cuts off her memory by self-mutilation.

This is Cui Jian describing his late generation, expressing his heartache.

That terrible news happened in 1993.

Luo Qi, the former lead singer of Compass, was attending a party when he got into an argument with someone, and was stabbed blind and pierced in one eye, at that time, He Yong, Jiang Xin, Zhang Chu and others were there, and some people were crying.

Later, Luo Qi married far away from Germany, and once again returned to the public eye, is in line with the needs of mainstream music programs, become a sentimental symbol.

It is reported that she will also appear in the "Summer of the Band", singing with her old friends the Faces.

△ Luo Qi in the "Singer" program

In the film, Cui Jian narrative of the proportion, can feel the tenderness of his heart, breaking through the simplification of male and female emotions, the mother's self-mutilation and far away from home, positioning the spirit of the spirit to carry out the whole process, is that he does not allow the existence of a lie of the cleanliness.

And another moving aspect of Blue Bones is Cui Jian's reflection.

After shouting "nothing" at the Workers' Complex, the godfather of music has become the "paper shackles" of Cui Jian, who has become the spiritual flag of his descendants, but at the same time, he is also trapped, and has to choose a subtle attitude with the contemporary ****.

When you think of rock, the first thing that comes to mind is anger.

Is it the anger that makes you choose rock to express it, or does rock dictate the rules of anger?

Sir can't say.

But there are two prominent images in the movie: the gun and the flower. (The same name as the famous rock band.)

Guns, the language that that generation needed to familiarize itself with, to master.

Guns were the language that the generation needed to know, to master, and the habit of making their presence known.

Where are the flowers?

Guns and flowers are often interspersed in the movie, dependent on each other, but hurting each other.

At the end of the movie, a blind, disfigured mother picks up her guitar and sings the "forbidden song" of her youth, "The Lost Season":

Too bad, too bad ......

You're a spring flower, blooming in autumn

Yes. p>

Yes.

Not every flower can bloom in spring.

But while we made Cui Jian the godfather of rock, Cui Jian said, "I just showed up at the right time and became one of the first newborns of Chinese rock.

And before that?

Some people have already been here, only to become "stillborn babies of rock".

Who remembers them?

I'm afraid it's only in their bones, the true heirs to the rock 'n' roll bloodline.

The Sewing Machine Band

Two years ago, The Sewing Machine Band was another fanciful tribute.

If Wanting Zhang was an outsider, and Ken Choi was a "direct descendant".

If Zhang Wanting is an outsider, and Cui Jian is a "direct descendant", then Roc, on the other hand, is a clueless little fan.

He uses a story of "searching for the beginning" to launch a fan-chasing attack on abstract rock feelings.

The story unfolds against the backdrop of--

Sentiment is mocked; ideals give way to vulgarity.

Rock is transformed into an awkward guitar sculpture that stands in the middle of a square dance.

Where have the rockers gone?

Still there.

They're still here.

Only one of them is worse than the other.

Sewing Machine and recent films such as Spirited Away and Against the Current all share the same formula -

middle-aged, increasingly disillusioned, ideals are still there, grudgingly, and against the wind, turn the tide.

It's very much like a hot blooded chicken soup story that you can brush up on.

The owner of the repair shop, Hu Liang (played by Qiao Suen, the guest of honor in "The Summer of the Band"), invites the bankrupt band manager, Cheng Gong (played by Dapeng), from Beijing, and assembles a rebellious rich girl, an old gynecologist who is old at heart, and a talented little keyboardist to form a sewing machine band to perform in the hope of stopping the landmark Dajita from being demolished by a real estate developer.

But the passion is gone.

It takes a bit of emotion to get excited again.

Rock and roll, as a tribute, was lifted.

There were flags and fluorescent lights.

And hand gestures.

The movie climaxes with the band overcoming disagreements and differences to pull off a beautiful 10,000-person live show.

And the track of choice is Beyond's "No More Hesitation".

Let's not get into the classic debate about whether Beyond is a rock band or not, or whether the style should be subdivided into metal, punk, funk, etc.

It's a great way to get the most out of a band that's been around for years.

This is perhaps Roc's initial sentiment.

And perhaps the biggest intersection he's drawn between rock and the masses.

In a way.

Sewing Machine and Summer of the Band do the same thing.

It goes back to the qualities of consumer entertainment products: easy distribution and emotional ****ing.

Seasoned fans of rock may not buy it.

But the larger, less familiar rock audience got a kick out of it.

Roc in the movie also arranged a lot of eggs, can be said to be "stamped" to invite a lot of real members of the band cameo:

Sichin Gezhile, Tang Dynasty guitarist "old five" Liu Yijun, Baojiajie 43 guitar Longlong, Women's rock band Cobra lead singer Xiao Nan, Paradise band Lei Gang, Xie Tianxiao, second-hand Rose guitarist Yao Lan, Black Panther drummer Zhao Mingyi, "China's first guitarist" Li Yanliang, the Catcher in the Rye lead singer Xiao Wei.

There are also three people who happen to be in the Summer of the Band:

Ou Yang of The Faces, Gao Hu, the lead singer of The Painkillers, and Peng Lei, the lead singer of New Pants.

It's a testament to Roc's resourcefulness and goodwill that he was able to find these "old guns" and put them in a movie.

However, the "counting stars" approach to arranging these rockers is not helpful to the theme, and seems to scratch the itch and watch the fire from the other side of the river.

Everyone knows that there are some who are unlikely to appear, like the Three Stooges.

Sir still remembers that Ho Yung once commented to the media about the Hong Kong music scene:

There is only entertainment, no music. The Four Heavenly Kings are all clowns except Jacky Cheung who is still a singer.

The Hong Kong media is in an uproar.

A few days later, the 94 Hung Hom concert reached a frenzied scene, resembling the Live aid extravaganza of Bohemian Rhapsody.

And this show, it's a lone product.

The 2017 Roc in the movie is precisely the entertainment to dissolve the heaviness, sadness, and confusion of domestic rock, and distilled is the most crowded chassis sentiment - do you still have a dream?

Dreams are great, but if they're spoken of so easily, or become the uniform output of all sentiments all people.

Then it's worth thinking about calmly.

Sewing Machine Band chose a song from New Pants to punctuate the title, "People without ideals are not sad".

Yet not many people, really, are sad enough to sing that song.

You're not sad because you don't have dreams, you're mortal, you're mediocre.

You are in pain because you have big ambitions to rise above this ordinary life.

Even in Sewing Machine Band, Hu Liang is not so much chasing a dream as slowing down amnesia.

It's not the future he's afraid of, it's that in the future, what he once believed in is gone.

In the city, skyscrapers rise up, and the big giants falter. How many people are busy with health, money, exams and promotion, so hurried that they forget what the taste of pain is. Can you say they still do not have a dream?

Going back to what we originally said, 50-year-old Zhang Yadong cried, not having listened to Park Shu Xiao Park's songs for many years, he remembered how young they were back then, to change their hairstyles, dress up nicely, smoke Future cigarettes, and put windows 98 to use.

If the band now comes to summer.

Then, whose summer is it?

Because of the young, inevitably hurt.

So grow up, or violent or quietly hide part of themselves.

To this day, it is dissolved or actively dissolved.

This is the face of rock 'n' roll in Summer of the Band and in Chinese cinema.

When we get excited today about the swipe of niche rock bands, it's probably also just an illusion of the output of pop culture products.

Remember feeling like this.

China's Hip Hop brought it too.

At that time, this niche form of music suddenly broke into the public eye, the heat of the moment, everyone was cheering, China finally has hip-hop, hip-hop finally out of the circle, landing roots.

And in recent years, who else has noticed that the third season of China's Hip Hop is on the air?

Summer gave a misunderstanding.

We misunderstand that life reaches the peak of exuberance and is fruitful from then on.

We misunderstand that we have finally recovered our feelings, classics and ideals.

But what is more likely to be left behind as the summer passes?

A song list.

Two or three new karaoke tracks.
