Where to see cherry blossoms in Fukuoka, Japan

Where to see cherry blossoms in Kyushu and Nishi Park in Fukuoka, Japan.

Cherry blossom viewing in Kyushu is filled with the scent of cherry blossoms, from the quaint Fukuoka Castle Trail to the lively Maizuru Park, and from the relaxing Nishi Park to the distinctive Kokura Castle.

Nishi Park, one of the top 100 cherry blossom viewing spots in Japan, is Fukuoka's number one cherry blossom viewing spot. In spring, 1,300 cherry blossom trees bloom one by one, covering the park with a pink cloud. Nishi Park is located on a hill facing the sea, and from the observation deck in the center, you can also look out over Hakata Bay and enjoy the vast scenery of the Sea of Japan.

Maizuru Park is one of the most famous cherry blossom viewing spots along with Nishi Park. The cherry blossoms in spring and the wisteria in summer make the park a unique place to view the stone walls of Fukuoka Castle. Although there are not as many cherry trees in Maizuru Park as in Nishi Park, they are very concentrated, and when they blossom in spring, the view from the height of Fukuoka Castle ruins is a great sight.
