Shanxi is one of the birthplaces of China's opera art, and is called the "cradle of opera". In the Han Dynasty, drama sprouted in Shanxi. During the Yuan Dynasty, Shanxi became the center of the national opera art, and the Yuan Dynasty stage found in the whole country was basically in Shanxi (southern Shanxi). A survey in 198 showed that there were 54 local operas in Shanxi, accounting for one sixth of more than 3 operas.

In the second year of Tang Gaozu's Wude (619), Li Shimin fought against Liu Wuzhou in Huozhou, drummed, sounded gongs and quit, and won, so it was handed down with prestige.
4. dough sculpture
Shanxi folk dough sculpture is a traditional handicraft with a long history. It is called flour flower among the people. It is used as a token or symbol for gifts, sacrifices, celebrations and decorations in folk festivals such as ceremonies and New Year's Eve. It is a very representative local culture accumulated by long customs.
5. Prosperous fire
It is a long-standing custom in northern China, mainly in Shanxi. It is said that Shanxi is rich in coal resources. According to the historical inference of coal development and use, the flourishing fire of modern form can be traced back to the Han Dynasty, and it has penetrated into customs and people's feelings in ancient times. Therefore, a custom of flourishing fire has formed in northern Shanxi.
It will be held on New Year's Eve and Lantern Festival. In front of every household's courtyard, large blocks of coal should be built into a tower, which is called Wanghuo, in order to be auspicious and congratulate the prosperity throughout the year.
