The formation of Weishan Lake is the result of crustal movement, flood of the Yellow River and human activities. After the formation of Weishan Lake, the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal runs through it, and more than 50 rivers from 38 counties (cities) in Jiangsu, Shandong, Henan and Anhui provinces meet here. It has become the largest freshwater lake in Shandong Province and the largest freshwater lake in northern China.
The formation of Weishan Lake is due to the overall decline of North China to Qian Hai and marshes 400 million years ago, especially since 7 million years, due to the strong movement of the earth's crust, a large area of depression has been formed, and waterlogging areas have been formed in central Shandong and western Shanxi, creating conditions for the birth of Weishan Lake.
Extended data:
Geographically speaking, Weishan Lake is classified as Weishan County. The whole Weishan county covers an area of 1780 square kilometers, which is almost the size of Shenzhen. However, the land area of Weishan County is very small, and more than 70% of it is Weishan Lake. This Weishan County has become the most magical county in China.
Weishan Lake consists of four lakes: Weishan Lake, Shaoyang Lake, dushan lake Lake and Nanyang Lake, so Weishan Lake is also called Nansi Lake. Weishan Lake is distributed in a strip shape, with a length of 1.20 km, a width of 6 km to 25 km and an area of 1.266 km2, which is almost half of Taihu Lake.
To say the ownership of Weishan Lake, we have to start from the Ming Dynasty. At that time, the area of Weishan Lake was only half as large as it is now. It was under the jurisdiction of Xuzhou at that time. Later, due to the diversion of the Yellow River, a large amount of sediment accumulated here, which caused the river water here to be unable to discharge normally.
By the Qing Dynasty, Weishan Lake was almost as big as it is now. At this time, Weishan Lake is under the jurisdiction of Shandong Province and Jiangsu Province, but the area occupied by Jiangsu Province is relatively small.
By 1949, Jiangsu province was not completely liberated, and Xuzhou was also included in the administrative region of central and southern Shandong. That is, Weishan Lake is under the jurisdiction of the Central South Shandong Administrative Region, and an office has been set up. To 1952, Xuzhou was returned to Jiangsu Province after liberation.
