Biography:
In 1954, Jia Shijun was selected to be transferred to the Comrades Singing and Dancing Troupe, and from then on embarked on the road of professional singing. He studied under a number of renowned vocal experts, including Prof. Yu Yixuan and Ms. Zhou Meiyu of the Central Conservatory of Music, Ms. Chen Ling and Ms. Cai Jingyi of the Central Orchestra, as well as Ms. Qin Zonghui of the China Teachers' College in Beijing, and also traveled to Bulgaria to receive instruction from vocal experts.
Jia Shijun's singing works are rich and varied, including Riding Horses Across the Grassland, Seven Laws - The Long March, and Kangding Love Song. He has also been the lead singer in two large-scale musical works, namely the music and dance epic "The East is Red" and the Long March anthem "The Red Army is Not Afraid of the Long March". His stirring and heartfelt songs are well received by the audience.
