The 2018 Global Destination Cities Index, published by MasterCard, the world's leading payments company, measures the rise and fall of the tourism industry in 162 cities around the world. The ranking predicts the growth of visitors to these cities in 2018 through traffic and consumer spending.
Like last year,
this year Bangkok remains at the top of the list,
and its unassailable supremacy can be attributed to strong projected growth of 9.6% this year.
Meanwhile,
Dubai, which has benefited from tourist spending, is also in the top spot,
with an average of $537 per day spent by travelers to the Middle Eastern city.
Below we list the 20 cities that will welcome the most tourists in 2018, ranked in ascending order of expected international arrivals.
