In January 2016, the Guangzhou-Foshan area saw sleet and snow for the first time since meteorological records began. In fact, most of the small ice particles are not snow, but shrapnel. It's small, white, opaque ice particles that land when water vapor at high altitude meets cold air and condenses. It is usually spherical or conical in shape and occurs mostly before or during snowfall. That's not really "snow". Also, it is not "hail". Although both are solid deposits, there is a fundamental difference: Graupole occurs in a relatively stable atmosphere, mostly near the rain/snow line. Hail is a form of strong convection, which often requires strong updrafts that are very warm and moist. It only occurs when the atmosphere is very unstable.
Tiny snowmen built by southern children on the Internet
Children born and raised in the south have long been dancing with excitement in the face of this scene. They have not piled up a real snowman, naturally can not appreciate the soul of snow. This has become a child's heart disease, always longing to play in the snow and make a big snowman. In order to satisfy the children's desire, the forest garden commemorating "Where's Daddy Going?", the filming location of the parent-child program "Wiseguy", became the first choice for this winter. Taking advantage of the spring vacation, I decided to take him to the beautiful snowy country of Northeast China.
Snow in the countryside is a genie that lands on earth. The warm, moist ocean air of Japan and the cold air of Lake Baikal meet in this small mountain village of Dahalin Shuangfeng Forest Farm, encountering a unique and beautiful snow that is rare in the world. There are various types of natural snow. It is hard to imagine how the winds of nature have shaped the snow into such streamlined and evocative snow sculptures. The perfect combination of the snow in the countryside and the residential houses with snowy mountains at their backs, cooking smoke, wooden fences and red lanterns make a fairy tale world of snow-colored folklore.
The Snow Valley is more than 20 kilometers long on the other side toward the snow. But when you walk into this forest known as the snow valley, you will be shocked by the scene in front of you: towering into the clouds, almost can not see the top of the pine trees are heavy with thick snow, showing the spectacle of the snow pressed pine trees; dense sea of forests can not see the silver edge of the jade trees is simply an unparalleled fairy tale world! See tourists, they can not help but sigh, shout, and even happy to dance

Preparation
I bought a full-body outdoor ski suit for my child. I could have gotten it before the trip according to the expected delivery time, but it was delayed. To prevent accidents, I took my child to an outdoor store and bought all the equipment, including clothes, pants, hats, gloves and snow boots. Who knew that the day before we left, Haitao's clothes arrived and I had to toss and take back the clothes I bought. Finally, all the equipment was ready.
D1(1.26)Guangzhou-Dalian
Since there was a lot of traffic during the Spring Festival, the security check time became slower. I woke up early in the morning and rushed from home to the airport. Who knew the flight was delayed? From sunrise to dark, the longest delay I can remember encountering, also drunk.
D2 (1.29) Dalian Harbin
Huami Restaurant on Central Street St. Sophia Cathedral.
At 09:11 am, the G707 high-speed train arrived at Harbin West. Everything went well, but something happened to the kids. When the train was about to arrive in Harbin, they threw up and the sky turned upside down. Do you get motion sickness on high speed trains too? The poor kids arrived at the station in bad spirits throughout.
Harbin
It is the birthplace of the Jin and Qing dynasties. As early as 900 years ago, the founder of the Jin Dynasty established his capital in Shanghai (A-cheng district of Harbin). But Harbin's real rise to prominence began with the construction of the Middle East Railroad in the early 20th century. With this cross-country railroad, which was built by the then Tsarist Russia to control and plunder China's resources, there was a huge influx of foreigners into Harbin, especially Russians. As a result, Harbin became a famous international commercial port at the time, and a large number of Russian-style buildings and old Russian restaurants can still be seen today. Most of the Han Chinese residents of Harbin are descendants of immigrants who came to Harbin from Shandong and Hebei. In the old society, most of them did business in Harbin, opening restaurants and small handicraft stores everywhere. The bustling scene of the time can still be seen now through the buildings on the second to fifth streets in the southern part of the Daowai district.
The tempting sugar gourd, appetizing. When you bite down, your mouth sucks straight up with a bad taste. The giant natural refrigerator has frozen everything as hard as a rock.
Central Avenue
A bustling commercial pedestrian street in the northeast, the 1,400-meter-long street starts from the riverside Flood Control Memorial Tower Square in the north and connects to Xinyang Square in the south. The neighborhood was built in 1900 and its street architecture includes 71 buildings in Renaissance and Baroque styles.
In April 2006, it was awarded the "China Habitat Environment Example Award" by the Ministry of Construction.
Modern Ice Popsicle
It is the specialty cold drink of Harbin Central Street. It was founded in Harbin in 1906 by a French Jew, Kesp, and has a history of more than 100 years. Its name "Madir" was used from the Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China and the post-liberation period. Mardil Cold Drink is one of the earliest cold drink enterprises in China. The characteristics of Mardil popsicles are "sweet but not greasy, fragrant in ice", no expansion agent, and the proportion of solidified products (milk, eggs, etc.) is much higher than that of ice cream. Far higher than ice cream. Martell popsicles have no packaging, only two flavors, and are only available in specialty stores. This small popsicle, which has been a best-seller for more than 100 years, has become almost a symbol of Harbin, whether it is hot in the height of summer or dripping with ice in the third quarter of the year.
Huamei Restaurant
The famous "Huamei Restaurant" is an old Russian-style western restaurant located on Central Street. Its architecture and food style is considered one of the characteristic cultural symbols of Harbin, so many tourists come here all year round, so it's best to reserve a seat in advance. Don't miss their house specialty, "canned casserole."
We had: canned braised beef, milk cake, fried shrimp, fried salmon, salad, red vegetable soup (actually almost borscht), bread, butter, and jam. The braised beef was especially good. The beef was tender and crispy, the bread was fluffy, and the salmon was flavorful. It's worth a try. The kid had a bad appetite and only drank the red vegetable soup and had no interest in trying anything else.
I arrived without a reservation. I didn't even have a serial number when I came in. The service directly told me to come back tomorrow to get the serial number. Looking at the room full of people, I was dismayed and asked if I could get an extra place and was answered that I could order the set menu. Looking at the quantity, I knew it would be more than enough food, so I decided to have a set menu in order to make the trip worthwhile. The waiter took it directly to the 3rd floor. There were only a few people dining in the entire lobby. Not sure why it wasn't open. Is it starvation marketing? I don't get it.
St. Sophia's Cathedral
St. Sophia's Cathedral was built in 1907 and is a landmark in Harbin. Its onion-shaped dome is very striking. Although this magnificent Byzantine building no longer functions as a church, it still attracts people as the most beautiful exotic building in Harbin. Once the largest Orthodox church in the Far East, Sofia Cathedral is the best-preserved Byzantine building in China. Although it was renamed the Harbin Museum of Architecture and Art in 1997, locals and foreign tourists prefer to call it the Sofia Cathedral. The most striking part of the cathedral is the 48-meter-high full and huge onion dome. This typically Russian architectural form of the roof is so magnificent that it can be compared to the Vasiliy Ascension Cathedral in Moscow. The walls of the church are made of clear red brick, and the large dome is surrounded by four tent roofs of different sizes, the floors under the four roofs are connected by stairs, and the whole church is accessed by four doors. At the top of the main entrance is the bell tower, which contains seven bronze musical bells (said to be lost). After the church was converted into an art gallery, the interior was rebuilt. By displaying nearly 1,000 pictures and a city planning sand table, it reflects the history, present and future of the famous city of Harbin. However, after the reconstruction, the original layout has been destroyed and its function as a church has disappeared. Visitors can stay out if they are only interested in the architecture and the church.
The square in front of the church has a "plaza"
The petrified hotel, booked by phone, has no payment or deposit, and quietly waits for guests to arrive.
All the later accommodations were booked this way. I didn't go back on my word and they all moved in on schedule. Thank you for trusting me.

Harbin Museum
Identity cards are free of charge, and the Harbin Museum now houses a large collection of artifacts reflecting the historical development of this region. These collections vividly reflect the various contacts and exchanges between the forefathers living on this black land and the central plains in politics, economy and culture, as well as the rapid development of today's society. Plastic skateboards allow children to have fun.
D4(1.31)Harbin Snow Valley
Snow Valley
Also known as Dongsheng Forest, it's separated from Xiangxue (Twin Peaks Forest) by Sheepgrass Mountain, and the hiking route from Snow Valley to Xiangxue crosses Sheepgrass Mountain. Snow Valley is a small mountain village that can be wandered through in less than an hour. In the evening, the snow valley is the most charming scenery, the sunset and smoke curling up the picture restore the most primitive rural scene in the northeast, like a Chinese ink painting. Many tourists come here just to hike up Yangcaoshan the next morning and experience Yang Zirong's journey through the forests and snowfields of this region from 0755 to 79000. Over this mountain you reach Xiangxue, where you pass the top of Yangcao Mountain. The snow plains here are very open, with few trees and good snow quality, allowing you to photograph the magnificent blue sky and white snow, as well as to watch the sunrise. Toward the snow is located on the sunny side of the goat grass, while the snow valley is located on the shady side of the goat grass, so the snow in this area will be thicker in winter.
The main reason for choosing to cross from Snow Country is that it is cheaper to eat, drink or stay here than in Snow Country. Due to the publicity effect, towards the snow has been very commercialized. After six months of rest, the winter is spent sharpening knives and waiting for people.
Living in Xinfu Inn, like this log color decoration, simple and cozy.
The little guy arrived and spread his joy in this freezing weather.
Come to the Northeast, you must try this specialty.
D5 (2.1) snow valley snow township Erlanghe
Wake up at 6:00 a.m., get ready, take the horse palladium pear to the foot of the mountain. Since we are not going back, we have to pick up a stretcher and go over the mountain.
Sitting in the carriage, the cold wind blew me full of wood. In order to reduce the burden on the horses, the drivers basically followed all the way. Just like that, about 5 kilometers from the inn to the foot of the mountain, the horse was already tired and sweating profusely.
The driver of the horse (also the owner of the inn) said that yesterday there was also a horse that was overworked and fell in the snow on the way back. All the hard work this winter was for nothing. It's sad to think about it. The hard work of earning a little money to support a family in the middle of winter is all invested in it.
Hiking
From the snowy valley to the snowy 15 kilometers. The so-called traverse is a direct one from Snow Valley across Sheepgrass Mountain to Xiangxue. It takes about 4-5 hours from Xiangxue on the other side of the mountain to Snow Valley. This is a particularly exciting and beautiful route. The scenery on the way is great, strenuous and challenging.
Arming children. From here it starts into the mountains.
It didn't take long for the little guy to quit and go back. He was told that he couldn't go back, that the room had been retired and that he could only go forward. It wasn't long before he reached the top of the mountain.
The higher you go, the more cynical this little guy becomes, and he simply stays. Then he was coaxed that the top of the mountain was not far ahead. After countless times, he didn't believe me, saying you said many times you were ahead and not there. Laugh out loud
Pulling and tugging, we finally reached the summit without incident. Poor me, I was only wearing a pair of sneakers with baby warmers on the front and back soles, and I couldn't stand the cold temperatures, my feet were wooden.
When you get to the top, you have to buy another ticket to the snow. The lobby is packed with people coming and going. Take a break and then start the second half of the trip.
The way to the snow is downhill, so you don't have to walk as hard. A smile finally came to the little one's face.
A monolith in the snowy mountains.
Because of the influence of the places my father visited, the commerce in Xiangxue was exceptionally prosperous. After descending the mountain, buy a bus ticket to Erlanghe here. After slowly running around, I finally caught the last bus to Erlanghe.

Erlang River Scenic Spot
Subordinate to Dahalin Forestry Bureau of Mudanjiang Forestry Bureau of Heilongjiang Province, it is 70 kilometers away from Dahalin Forestry Bureau. Erla
Erlanghe Forest is located at 40 kilometers from the newly opened Yaxue Highway (Yabuli to Xiangxue), 40 kilometers from Xiangxue Twin Peaks Forest and 240 kilometers from Harbin, which is conveniently located. The opening of the Yaxue highway has injected vigorous vitality into the Erlanghe forest.
The geographical advantage of the surrounding mountains creates a beautiful snow scene in Erlanghe Forest. The snowflakes fall on the eaves, woodpiles and hedges, forming all sorts of marvelous shapes under the action of the wind. The original farmhouse is clean and tidy, with jagged fences, chopped firewood for warmth, and red chili peppers basking in front of the door, showing the rich original flavor of Erlanghe farmhouse.
D6(2.2)Erlanghe Harbin
I got what I wanted and built a snowman. Haha, it felt like a mountain statue.
The Changchun Cake
A chain store that is almost one of the must-visit places in Harbin because of its low price and good quality.
Divided into spring pancakes and gluten pancakes based on the thickness of the pancake, they cost 2 yuan/pair; they're usually made into bread rolls with a mixture of vegetables, meat and eggs. There are also ingredients such as fish and roast duck, which are popular.
The last night was at the Science and Technology Hotel, which is still a nice setting.
D7(2.3)Harbin-Dalian
The Northeast Snow Country Hiking Tour came to a successful end, looking forward to my next challenge.
