Drum yangko is a very old traditional folk dance in Jinan, Shandong Province. Originated in Shanghe County, Jinan, it has a history of more than 2,000 years. According to records, in the fourth year of Han Hongjia (BC 17), Xu Shang, a captain of the riverbank, dug the river, and the people spontaneously danced with umbrellas to celebrate the completion of He Zhu.
Generally speaking, the dance in Shanghe area is generous and powerful, rough and heroic, and likes "high posture" in the use of umbrellas, giving people an open-minded and magnificent feeling; Huimin District, on the other hand, is simple and steady, with a slow dynamic rhythm. It adopts a "low profile" in the power framework, and sticks and flowers have their own strengths and unique views.
Different dance props used by the characters naturally lead to different rhythms and different rhythms and rhymes. As the artist said, "One fights, one smells, and one makes love."
The state attaches great importance to the protection of intangible cultural heritage. On May 20th, 2006, the drum yangko was approved by the State Council to be included in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage list.
