Classification of Yangko in Shandong Province

Shandong yangko is divided into three categories: drum yangko, Haiyang yangko and Jiaozhou yangko.

Drum Yangko: It spreads in Jiyang, Shanghe, Yangxin, Huimin, Wudi and other counties in the lower reaches of the Yellow River, and can be said to be in the same strain as the gongs and drums in Shaanxi, Gansu and Shanxi in the middle reaches of the Yellow River. The Dao used in the dance has silk umbrellas, drums, sticks and scarves.

Haiyang Yangko: Popular in Haiyang, Laiyang, Rushan and other counties and cities in Jiaodong Peninsula, Haiyang is the most prosperous, and almost every village has a yangko team. There are many roles in Haiyang Yangko, and the whole dance team consists of single dance, double dance and multi-person dance.

Jiaozhou Yangko: Originated from Dongxiaotun Village in the north of Jiaozhou. At that time, there were two people in the village, one was Ma and the other was Zhao. Due to the great pressure of life, they go to the surrounding places to perform during the slack season, and over the years they have formed a performance form with local characteristics, mostly on the first day of the first month.
