The Eighteen Bends of the Mountain Road
Lyrics: Tong Wensi
Composed by Wang Yuanping, Yin Jianping, Li Qiong
Sung by Li Qiong
Yo ...... the children and grandchildren of the big mountain, yo love the sun
The sun that loves the people in the mountains
The mountain road here has eighteen bends
The waterway here has nine rings
The mountain songs here are in a row
The mountain songs here are in a row
Nine rings of waterways here
Row upon row of mountain songs here
String upon string of mountain songs here
Eighteen bends
The gold and silver fortresses of the Tujia people
Nine rings of waterways here
Connecting the jeweled beaches of the Tujia people
Without the eighteen bends
The mountain maidens of this mountain would not be as beautiful as the water. Without these nine rings
there would be no strong mountain men
Eighteen bends, nine rings
Eighteen bends, nine rings
The bends, the rings, the bends
are all wrapped up in the Tujia people's water and the mountains
Eighteen bends in the mountain paths here
Nine rings in the water paths here
Here are mountain songs, row by row
There are mountain songs, row by row, and the water is the most beautiful. The mountain songs here are arranged in rows
The mountain songs here are arranged in strings
Row by row
The bitterness and sweetness of the Tujia people are arranged in rows
String by string
The sadness and happiness of the Tujia people are arranged in strings
Without these rows
Without this string, it would not be possible to express our love in a simple and honest way
Without these strings, it would not be possible to express our love in an endless way
There would not be any way to express our love without this strand by strand.
Row to row, string to string
Row to row, string to string
Row to row, string to string
Row to row, string to string, string to string
All of them are connected to the dreams and hopes of the Tujia people

When the clock struck zero in 2008, Tong Wenxi waited until his own lyrics for the song "happy things" on the CCTV Spring Festival Gala stage, but that was the moment of firecrackers "to say goodbye and welcome the new year", and he slightly regretted that: "Perhaps most people did not listen to the full song. Maybe most people haven't heard the whole song", he said with a little regret. This is the second time his work has been featured in the Spring Festival Gala, the first being in 1999, when the fourth program, "Eighteen Bends of the Mountain Road," was written by him.
Tong was surprised by the rapid rise in popularity of "Eighteen Bends of the Mountain Road," a song he had been calling himself a "third world" and "local army" lyricist, but never thought he would become famous at the age of 54.
However, the 1999 Spring Festival Gala brought him more confidence and opportunities, the Three Gorges, Xinjiang, Sichuan -- he said his "creative home" radius is getting bigger and bigger, and every place he goes there are so many fresh inspirations but also so intimate. Tong Wensi also began to dabble in "melodrama", he said his own creation is more purposeful, is to leave a little can be remembered works.
