Beijing's Golden Mountain
Sung by: Liao Qian Qian
Beijing's Golden Mountain shines brightly in all directions
CHAIRMAN MAO IS THE GOLDEN SUN
How warm and kind it is
Lightening up the hearts of the serfs
We walk along the road of socialist happiness
We walk on the road of socialist happiness
We walk on the road of socialist happiness
There is no doubt about it.
We are walking on the road to socialist happiness
Hey Bazaar Hey
The light from Beijing's Golden Mountain shines in all directions
CHAIRMAN MAO IS THE GOLDEN SUN
How warm and kind
It brightens the hearts of the serfs
We are walking on the road to socialist happiness
On the road to socialist happiness
Beijing's Golden Mountain shines brightly in all directions
Chairman Mao is the golden sun
How warm and how kind
It shines brightly into the hearts of our serfs
We are marching on the road to socialist happiness
We are marching on the road to socialist happiness
There is no doubt that we are on a road to socialist happiness
Hey Bazaar Hey Bazaar Hey
In 1961, Chang Liuzhu, a soloist who went to Tibet to work, learned a song called "Shannan Ancient Wine Song" from an old artist from Zhaxi, the lyrics of which mean, "On the Golden Mountain of Beijing, the golden horn is blown, I don't know who is blowing it, and it makes the people's heart very happy to hear it. " This song was originally an ancient drinking song, generally used in religious ceremonies. After the liberation of the country, the old Zaxi artists made up new lyrics for the song and named it "On the Golden Mountain of Beijing" to express the deep affection of the Tibetan people for Chairman Mao and the new China. Chang Liuzhu was eager to put this work on stage and sing it. So the task of adapting the work fell to Ma Jonas. Jonas added two lines of prelude music to the original folk song, modified the last line of music, and revised the lyrics. In 1964, the National Literature and Arts Festival was held in Beijing, and according to the regulations, amateur singers must participate in it, so an amateur singer named Yongxi was selected to sing it. Yong Xi became the second singer of this piece. Her performance in Beijing was a great success and was praised by Premier Zhou. Premier Zhou personally revised the last line of the song, changing the words "We stride towards the paradise of socialist happiness" to "We stride on the avenue of socialist happiness". Premier Zhou's modification sublimated the meaning of the song, changing the word "towards" to "in" to make the era and historical background more accurate. The word "heaven" was replaced by "on the highway", which made the work more realistic and less religious. Later, Jonas Ma changed the first two lines to read: "The golden mountain in Beijing shines brightly in all directions, and Chairman Mao is the golden sun." Some people say that this work is adapted from the "Kampot Arrow Song", but in fact it is not. The "Old Wine Song" is the real "material" for its adaptation.
In 1972, the Central People's Broadcasting Station (CPB) came to Tibet to record the song, and suggested that the song be sung by the Tibetan singer Tsetan Drolma, and suggested that the lyrics be added. Jonah Ma then filled in a second verse based on the first. The song "On the Golden Mountain of Beijing" sung by Tsetan Drolma then aroused great repercussions throughout the country. It became a household name and an unforgettable excellent song
