In the second year of Tongguang in the later Tang Dynasty (AD 924), Li, because of the name of "Chang" in Xiaochang County, violated his grandfather's taboo. Therefore, according to the story of selling his body to bury his father, fan quilt and Meng Zong crying bamboo shoots, the dutiful son changed Xiaochang County to Xiaogan County, which is the origin of Xiaogan's name.
After the Tang Dynasty changed the history of Xiaogan for five generations, the word "Xiaogan" appeared as a place name in the second year of Tongguang in the Tang Dynasty (AD 924). Prior to this, it was traced back to the first year of Xiao Jian, Liu Song (AD 454), and it was called Xiaochang County. In 924 AD, it was only 153 years from the death of Meng Zong, 3 18 years from the death of Huang Xiang, and even farther from the death of Yong Dong, with a history of about 400 years.
Xia and Shang Dynasties were the land of ancient Jingzhou. Zhou Wei is the separatist land of Chu, Yun, Yi and other vassal states, and the capitals of the two countries are here. Qin belongs to the south county; After the Han Dynasty, it belonged to Jiangxia County of Jingzhou. After the Northern and Southern Dynasties, it belonged to anlu county. Xiaogan City is located in the northeast of Hubei Province, south of Tongbai Mountain and Dabie Mountain, north of Yangtze River, east of Hanjiang River, south of Dongxihu District and Xiantao City in Wuhan, north of Xinyang City in Henan Province, west of Suizhou, Jingmen and Tianmen, and east of Hongan County in Huanggang City and huangpi district in Wuhan City. Geographical location: 30 23'-3152' minutes north latitude and11319'-14 35' east longitude.
The whole territory is about 163 km long from north to south and about 122 km wide from east to west. The city's land area is 89 10 square kilometers. Xiaogan is close to Wuhan, with superior geographical position and convenient transportation. It is 60 kilometers away from the center of Wuhan, 30 kilometers away from Wuhan Tianhe International Airport and 50 kilometers away from Wuhan Port, the largest inland port.
Beijing-Guangzhou, Hanyu and Changjing railways pass through the territory, and four expressways, namely, Beijing-Zhuhai, Yin Fu, Shanghai-Chengdu and Jason Wu, and two national highways, 107 and 3 16, crisscross. The Hanjiang River, Fuhe River, He Huan River and Hanbei River are connected with the Yangtze River, which leads directly to all parts along the Yangtze River.
