A Long Day's Journey: Light at the End of the Tunnel

Yao Jun and Li Yun's child, Xing Xing, drowned at a young age, and the two chose to move away from their old lives, deliberately settling into an unfamiliar environment, licking their wounds alone in unfamiliar relationships.

With their children long gone, they are each other's only reason for living.

When Jasmine, who has always been a good friend, becomes pregnant with Yaojun's child by chance, she kindly makes a suggestion and decides to give birth to a child for the couple to pay back Jasmine's brother's emotional debt.

This proposal, Yaojun is not not moved moment, and finally still chose to refuse. He knows that the child, can inject vitality into his life, bring hope, however, it is not his and Li Yun's child, and can not be the continuation of the life of the child he once lost.

Even though life is mean and cruel to him, he still can't bear to hurt his wife's feelings for his own selfishness. At the lowest point of his character, he still retains his good nature after making difficult choices.

At the end of the movie, Jasmine and the audience video chat, Jasmine's child is about to appear, Yaojun's expression changed slightly, I think he and the audience in front of the screen, as nervous and curious, the child, whether it will grow and his own face.

Jasmine's child slowly appeared in front of the video, a foreigner's face. Yaojun breathes a long sigh of relief and a soft sigh at the same time.

Instead of giving birth to his child, Jasmine started her own love life. This has been the best ending.

Yao Jun's choice redeemed Jasmine and saved himself.

The emotions of the main character can be seen in two halves.

One is the subtle emotional changes that Yaojun and Liyun's couple experience with their neighbors after the loss of their child.

Star and Hoho are children of the same age, and Star's departure mirrors Hoho's loneliness.

Hoho's existence also seems to be a constant reminder of Star's premature departure.

In fact, it is not the parents who have lost their children who live in pain.

For more than twenty years, Hao Hao's mother, Li Haiyan, has never forgotten them and has lived in soulful self-condemnation. She is a birth control worker, personally sent Li Yun and Yao Jun's second unborn child to the hospital operating table, during the operation Li Yun's body is damaged, it is difficult to get pregnant again.

Star drowned and died, Li Yun and Yao Jun have no way to have a second child.

Li Haiyan's child, Hao Hao, also because of the accidental death of his childhood playmate, Star, planted a seed of evil within himself, until finally, grew into a big tree, are almost too big for him to live.

In Hao Hao's memory, the drowning of stars, and his own direct relationship. However, out of the timidity of his youth, he has never had the courage to explain the original cause of the accident to Yaojun and Liyun.

After witnessing his mother Li Haiyan's life regret, he finally sat in front of Mr. and Mrs. Yaojun and took the initiative to state the drowning accident. Li-Yun just calmly replies with a sentence that it's good to talk about it.

In the eyes of Li Yun and Yao Jun, Hao Hao is the shadow of the stars, a child is gone, no matter what has happened between them, they should do their best to protect another child, do not repeat the mistakes.

The death of the female neighbor is considered to be an end to this unspoken tragedy.

There is not a single bad guy in this story, yet tragedy strikes, and all the efforts of the good guys can't reverse the sadness of life.

Another is the relationship between Mr. and Mrs. Yao Jun and their adopted son.

By chance, the couple adopts a child, treats him as the shadow of a star, and lives with him for a number of years.

The child grows to adulthood in a life defined by rebellion and eventually chooses to run away from home.

At the end of the tunnel, there must be light.

However, those who walk in the tunnel for a long time can easily lose their way. The first thing you need to do is to get out of the tunnel, and then you'll have to go back to the house.

Li Yun left a suicide note to end her life based on this mentality.

As the main character mentioned in the movie, when the star died, our lives stopped with it, and what's left, just barely.

In the cold north, Mr. and Mrs. Yao Jun visit Hao Hao's newborn child, holding the youngster in their arms and imagining that if their own child, Liu Xing, hadn't drowned, he would have been old enough to get married, and perhaps have a child of his own.

The phone rang, the adopted child Liu Xing brought his girlfriend home to visit the two old people, see no one at home, to Liu Yaojun called.

"Dad, I'm Star."

Hearing these words, Yaojun and Liyun couple's emotional gap for many years should have found a sewing point.

There were brief moments of happiness in Yaojun's generation. They had a small gathering in a ballroom, with music playing in the background.

"Auld Lang Syne" is a Scottish song that honors those long-gone days.

Everyone in the story is trying to try to recapture those good times, but it doesn't work out that way.

Accidents happen and grief cannot be undone.

Love and tolerance, forgiveness and redemption are the best endings.

On the flight to the north, the airflow is so turbulent that Yaojun and Liyun can't help but hold hands together.

Li Yun smiled miserably and said, "We are still afraid of death.

At that time, they may not realize that the light at the end of the tunnel has begun to shine into their lives.
