Guo Lanying Biography

Born in December 1930 in Pingyao, Shanxi Province, Guo Lanying is a Chinese soprano singer, Jin Opera performer, opera performer, and national vocal music educator.

In the fall of 1946, Guo Lanying left the opera troupe in Zhangjiakou and joined the Cultural and Industrial Troupe of the North China Union University, where she began to engage in a new opera career.947 In November, Guo Lanying was transferred to the Cultural and Industrial Troupe of the North China Union University, where she performed in Shijiazhuang in an opera.948In 1956, she sang the interlude My Motherland for the movie Shangganling.

In 1963, Guo Lanying held a solo concert, setting a precedent for solo concerts of folk vocal music.

In 1982, she went to teach at the China Conservatory of Music, and in 1986, she became principal of the Guo Lanying School of Arts in Panyu, Guangdong Province.

In 2019, Guo Lanying sang the song My Motherland with Yao Linhui at the 2019 CCTV Mid-Autumn Gala.In 2020, she sang My Motherland at the 2020 CCTV Spring Festival Gala.
