Early Life-

Early Life -

In the early morning of January 29, 1953, Teresa Teng was born in the village of Tianyang, Baozhong Township, Yunlin County, Taiwan, Republic of China. Her father, Deng Shu, was a native of Dengtai Village, Dajie Township, Da Ming County, Hebei Province, and a National Army officer who moved to Taiwan with the ROC government as a result of the Second National ****ing Civil War, while her mother, Zhao Sugui, was a native of Dongping County, Shandong Province.

The parents used "Yatou" as Deng's gag name before the full moon, and Deng Shuji then asked a learned officer surnamed Yang in the army to give her the name Liyun, which was pronounced "yun" by her family and neighbors, but the word "yun" was pronounced "yun" by the family and neighbors. Although the character "筠" should be pronounced as "云", her family and neighbors pronounced it as "均"(the same sound as "君"), which made it the stage name of the singer she would later devote herself to. She was the fourth in her family, with three brothers and one sister.

When she was two or three years old, Teresa Teng moved with her family to Chihshang Township, Taitung County, and Pingtung City, and in 1959, her father retired from the military and moved the family to a family village in Luzhou Township, Taipei County (now Luzhou District, New Taipei City), where she was enrolled in the Luzhou National Elementary School.
