Wu Yifan graduated from the Vocal Group of the Department of Music of the National Taiwan University of the Arts, majoring in voice and minoring in piano. His father is Wu Tinghong and his younger brother is Wu Yiwei, the first Super Idol contestant.
After graduation, he was picked up by Daqi Records and released the album "My Music - Bravely" in 2003.
